User Error

By

from PGH, PA

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

If you overload your cab, you'll have a problem regardless of whether the drivers are Neo or ceramic. This is true of all cabs. There is nothing innately wrong with Neo drivers or else this would be a major problem for everyone using them. Companies would not dedicate entire product lines to an engineering flaw. If you have overdriven and blown more than one new speaker cabinet produced by a trusted manufacturer, maybe the problem is YOU and it doesn't fit logically to blame the workmanship of either one of those cabs... what are the odds TWO different companies made speakers that had the exact same problem? Guitar Center customers would do well to avoid "stinky" user reviews and trust more intelligent players. This cab gives you a huge sound, relative to price and power rating. This, paired with a small head, makes a perfect practice rig. Well done, GK.

Something Stinks!

By

from Bethlehem PA

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I was very happy with the tone and the light weight that this speaker offered.Unfortunately after 4 gigs, it burnt up. I had the MB 115 Neo bass 8 ohm cab w/ a Ampeg PF500 head.I also switched off to an Acoustic B200H twice. Both heads with this cab sounded fantastic. At our last gig(and thankfully the last song)the band members and some folks up front started smelling something burning. It was the cab!I play with a Classic Rock & Oldies band. All our venues are lower volume type of jobs. It has been my experience that these Neo series drivers can't take it. I had an Acoustic 1-15 Neo driver bust up on me too. Looks like it's back to heavy magnets again. What a shame for GK.

Huge sound from small cabinet!

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

Just received GK cabinet and I am greatly impressed! I am playing this through a Genz Benz 900 watt amp, and it handles the power perfectly. Great lows, with super mid range and highs. The horn sounds very good. I play a 1972 Fender Jazz Bass and the sound is fantastic! This cabinet and amp combination is near perfect. An added plus is the light weight and portability without sacrificing volume and richness of sound. Buy this: you won't be dissapointed!

Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Black 400W 8ohm

By

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I bought this cab a month ago to work as an extension to my gk 210 mb combo. This cab produces enough bottom end that belies its size in comparison. I am pleased with the sound of this cab as a standalong and overjoyed with its performance in use with the combo. The only thing this is lacking is an attenuator for the tweeter instead it has an on and off swith. And I can't say enough for the potability of the cab. When I use this with the cab with the combo I have 500 Watts of power under 70 pounds total and it actually sounds good you can't beat that.

115MBE 400W 8ohm 212MBE 600W 8ohm

By

from Seattle, WA

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

Update. I tried the batting in the cabinet trick. No luck, still buzzes. One of those things that if you hear it once, you hear it every time. Guess I'll have to stack them so the tweeters are on the bottom, that way I won't hear it so much. Kind of a bummer. Normally, I would return an item that has this problem, but it took me awhile to get these. Can't afford to be without and can't afford Ampeg! Since the buzz is in two different types and shapes of cabinet, I'm thinking this may be a design flaw somehow. Please tell me if you think different. BTW, the 212 sounds great and the 115 is what I expected.

115MBE 400W 8ohm 212MBE 600W 8ohm

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

Got these two cabs within the last 30 days. Pretty happy so far (and so is my back!), but haven't played a room bigger than my garage yet. Have noticed a buzz on both cabs from the tweeter, whether on or off. Same thing using 2 different amp heads. Actually pulled the tweeter from the 115 last night , still buzzes from the hole. Clean from the 15". Closed the hole tightly with a rag, still buzzes. I think I will add some loose batting inside that part of the cab and see what that does. I'll update if that fixes it. Because of this, I give them both 3 stars.

Great lightweight amp

By

from Columbus Ohio

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 115MBE 1x15 Ultra Light Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I have an Ampeg Micro-VR 200W (@ 4 OHMs) Bass Amp Head. I wanted a single lightweight cabinet with a 4 OHM speaker with decent sound. I'd have to buy two cabinets with Ampeg (plus hall an extra cabinet) at twice the cost of only one GK 115MBE. I have two Hoffner wannabees and an Ibanez SR500. Great lows and the horn is good as well. Cabinet handles the power well. I waited 5 months for this cab and it was worth it.
