I've been playing for a lot of years and because I'm older and smarter now I looked for a system that was straight forward with plenty of power and most of all these days portable. I found all of that with Gallien-Krueger. I use this head with a GK 410 4ohm NEO cabinet bi amped to get every bit of that power. This setup handles the low B of my Fender's and Lakland's with ease. (The 410 NEO is a powerful lightweight cabinet which I can actually lift and put in the trunk of my car all by myself without singing soprano.)I have never had a situation where I have ever felt as though I didn't have enough head room or that I couldn't hear myself on stage with this head. The sound guys all agree it has a great sound that is easy to work with and easily comes through in the mix. I always get compliments on my sound on every job especially from other players. I started out years ago with the GK 800RB and it served me well and most of all dependably for many years. As I got older and was able to afford boutique amps I did and I strayed away from GK spending big bucks looking for a better sound and never found it. Nobody gives more bang for the buck than GK does and none of those expensive amps were as well defined live with the sound such as this amp produces and most were not nearly as straight forward to use. This head is just straight forward clear defined bass tone with easy to use controls and no messing around. Just jack in and play. Enough said!

The GK1001 is a really good head with plenty of power and headroom. I was surprised it had that much of both with the GEO@8OHm cab. I usually play all tube Ampegs, but I really like this for clean audiohile headroom, especially for articulation and slap. Do yourself a favor and buy the 4-way cable directly from GK so you can bi-amp the head. You will be surprised how the amp comes to life.

I would have given it 4 stars instead of 3, but after all it is GK! Terrible quality problems with the 700 and 800RB. Few problems reported w/ the 1001 but I am distrusting enough to buy the Musician's Friend 3 year warranty. Like I said, it's not the 90's and this is GK

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head:

One of the best heads I have ever used. I play Stingray 5's through this head, and have never heard them sound as great as they do through the GK 1001RB II in conjunction with an Ampeg SVT-410HLF. In fact, this head sounds so good, I will be purchasing another as a back up head, as well as use the second head as a slave to power a second SVT-410HLF.

I use this for rehearsals and gigging, with two SWR 4x10 Goliaths. Power and clarity baby! The tone is excellent, great for plucking, finger style and anything else! My band mates love it! However, no compression, but I use an external comp-pedal.

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head:

I had tried a mark bass prior to this but that wasn't satisfying my ears really. So I went to GC and returned it. Played around on a few other amps, found my self jammin' on the GK through a neo 410. Simple eq, love the biamp mode and the boost option. The contour and presence is also great. THis amp is not hard to dial in tones. Its has a quiet fan too. My other amp sounded like a mini jet was built inside lol. If you want the growl im you tone(which is tamable btw) get this amp.

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head:

I've played through many heads of all major labels over the last 40 years and I can say without a doubt, this is the BEST! I'm running it through a GK 4x10 and GK 2x12 cabs. It will make your ears bleed before you ever get it to clip. In fact, I have yet to use up all the head room. The first head I've ever had that I can say that. I doubt you'll ever have all the bass settings much past halfway and the tone control with the Bi-Amp is simply amazing. All the tight bottom, quality mids and smooth highs you can possibly want without ever coming close to max settings. I started out looking for ultra light amps to replace my old 30 pounder, but heard too many horror stories of them not having the powerful head room they advertize. Most of them only had one speaker out too and not all cabs are in/out. If you can't pick up a 23 pounder instead of a 13 pounder, you probably can't pick up your guitar. I can't say enough. Get you one!

Comments about Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head:

This little monster is awesome. I have been playing for a church for almost 30 years now and I have used many amps including the beloved Ampeg and this baby is very nice. I just got it so I am still getting used to it, but so far this baby is a beast and I cannot wait to get to know it a little bit better.

I use this in combinations with GK 4x10 Neo and 1x15 Neo. I love it! so many different sound possibilities!Main reason for purchase was the biamping feature. I'm blown away and so is anyone else near the amp!

I just got the amp, so I can't speak to reliability, but it's one of the best sounding amps I've played. It fills up all the notes. And I haven't even tried the biamping yet.

WITHOUT A DOUBT ONE OF THE BEST AMPS I HAVE OWN

Great amp, I can't really say enough [good] things about this amp is by far one of the best investments I have ever made, I used to own 3 ampeg heads(svt450-svt1000-svt-cl)and they are great amps as well no discussion about it, but after a while I really got tired of hauling those monsters to gigs every time,I tried many different ones from MESA to EDEN and this one was the one that really impressed me GK amps are light weight compare to ampeg and sound wise i really dig the punch & growl, it's very easy to use/dial in your tone from clean to grungy overdrive by tweaking some knobs, it is VERY LOUD, believe or not with my svt-cl i keep my volume about 11-12 o clock in rehearsals just to keep up with the rest of the band but with the GK never been past 4-5 i really recommend this amps. I'm thinking about get me a 700rbII as a back up just in case
