  • Best Bass Combo Amp For the $$

As reviewed by MotownRocker on 1/27/2011

Bought the MB210 to use for my keyboard (bass amps are notoriously the best for keys--provided they have a tweeter and EQs). I use the Hammond B3 sounds a lot and those need to be "thick". Hence the need for a powerful bass combo amp. This GK is to-die-for, in the quality of sound reproduced. The 33lbs is a bonus (and a HUGE ONE in that most quality bass amps weigh at least 60--up to 100lbs or more). I was skeptical that anything weighing 33lbs would be able to produce good, heavy sound, but this one outperformed even my estimate. I play left-hand bass out of my keyboards a lot and the bass came through this amp in a thunderous, earth-shaking form. There is no doubt that this amp can be a stand-alone in small to medium sized rooms without any enhancement, or having to go through the mains or a sub-woofer. No distortion, no overdriving, no rattles or screetching from the tweeter--nothing but pure and punchy sound. This amp gets a solid 5 Stars from me. Best in show, quality and value!

  • Big sound in a small package

As reviewed by Jeff on 5/9/2011

I got tired of hauling heavy cabinets and heads to gigs and especially practices. So I thought I started looking into combos. I was already playing GK gear, so naturally started looking there. I first compared the MB115 to the Ampeg BA115 and sound and price wise, they were equal. But the MB115 weighed almost half what the Ampeg did. I ended up selling some of my extra gear and decided to try the MB210. It was worth the extra money. I am in love with this amp. It has that great GK tone, the 2 10s punch you right in the chest and I can pick it up with 1 finger. Last week, I had my first practice with full band since getting it and it handled it like a champ. I had the gain at 12:00 and volume around 9:00 or 10:00 and had no trouble being heard. The rest of the band loved my sound. I just bought an MBE115 extension cab this weekend so I'll be able to get the full 500 watts out of this monster. I haven't even had a chance to hook it up yet. I can't imagine how good it's going to sound.

  • Attn. Mr. "could have been so much better"

As reviewed by Jimmie on 3/5/2011

As a roadie/tech/player for over 45 years, I seldom review anything. However, after buying one of these amps for myself, setting it up "by the numbers", playing it, and then buying one for my nephew...Mr. "could have been,etc.,etc.,I hope you do not advise real players. Enough said...this amp "ROCKS" (and is also nicely light). KIDDS
