I have this amp mated to a GK 115MBE cabinet. Together, they make an awesome little rig! This amp packs plenty of punch for its size and the sound is clean, clear and tight. No muddiness. I wasn't able to demo this amp in the store, so I was a little worried it wouldn't sound as good as my small but excellent sounding Ampeg 1x12 combo. I was pleasantly surprised with the MB200 and look forward to many years with it. It appears well-built, and you just can't beat it for portability.
I've just found the perfect amp to power my 112 KOVALCIK AUDIO full-range speaker cabinet. I'm a part-time professional musician who plays electric bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar and ukulele. I've been looking for a 120-200W amp that can work well for all stringed instruments...an amp with clarity and an EQ section that maintains and enhances the characteristics of each instrument. It makes my P-Bass sound like it should...thick, growly, punchy - sitting well in the mix with a hard-hitting drummer and loud guitarist in my instrumental rock band. It does wonders with my electric guitar (Strat). The contour switch provides that acoustic, glassy characteristic similar to Mark Knopfler (sounds so good!). And, the amp brings out the very best of every pickup selection. Tonal variations of each pickup are well-defined...much more so compared to other amps I've tried. The MB200 is now my favorite amp for acoustic guitar. My Martin guitar with K&K Western pickup sounds perfect. I no longer need to use my LR Baggs Para-acoustic DI because the EQ section on the MB200 is just as good or better. My ukulele with K&K pickup through the MB200 demonstrates similar results. At 2 pounds and a great price, everyone should own one of these. If you don't think it has enough power, it's probably because you have permanent hearing loss. This little guy provides plenty of power to cut through the mix in any band situation. But, GK also makes the MB500, if you need a few more decibels. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! DON'T WAIT, BUY ONE TODAY!
I just got this amp yesterday. I ran it through a 2X10 cabinet, and I just can't believe is sounds as good as it does. I have a Fender dual bass 400 with a 4X10 cabinet, and a peavey zoom 600 2X10 cabinet, I needed a smaller rig to leave at church. This amp is amazing. The tones are from a nice mellow, to a great thump, to a DEEP bass sound, and it is so simple to operate, and the head weighs less than three puunds! What a great little amp. THANKS
