Update. I tried the batting in the cabinet trick. No luck, still buzzes. One of those things that if you hear it once, you hear it every time.
Guess I'll have to stack them so the tweeters are on the bottom, that way I won't hear it so much. Kind of a bummer.
Normally, I would return an item that has this problem, but it took me awhile to get these. Can't afford to be without and can't afford Ampeg!
Since the buzz is in two different types and shapes of cabinet, I'm thinking this may be a design flaw somehow.
Please tell me if you think different.
BTW, the 212 sounds great and the 115 is what I expected.
Got these two cabs within the last 30 days. Pretty happy so far (and so is my back!), but haven't played a room bigger than my garage yet.
Have noticed a buzz on both cabs from the tweeter, whether on or off. Same thing using 2 different amp heads.
Actually pulled the tweeter from the 115 last night , still buzzes from the hole. Clean from the 15". Closed the hole tightly with a rag, still buzzes. I think I will add some loose batting inside that part of the cab and see what that does. I'll update if that fixes it.
Because of this, I give them both 3 stars.
If you overload your cab, you'll have a problem regardless of whether the drivers are Neo or ceramic. This is true of all cabs. There is nothing innately wrong with Neo drivers or else this would be a major problem for everyone using them. Companies would not dedicate entire product lines to an engineering flaw. If you have overdriven and blown more than one new speaker cabinet produced by a trusted manufacturer, maybe the problem is YOU and it doesn't fit logically to blame the workmanship of either one of those cabs... what are the odds TWO different companies made speakers that had the exact same problem? Guitar Center customers would do well to avoid "stinky" user reviews and trust more intelligent players.
This cab gives you a huge sound, relative to price and power rating. This, paired with a small head, makes a perfect practice rig. Well done, GK.
