The Galli Musical Strings Company was established by Tommaso Galli in 1890. At that time musical strings were handcrafted using gut. In 1950 Roberto Galli, Tommaso's son, joined the firm. Roberto inherited the talent of his father, and, in time, became like his father a great expert, a maestro, in the art of musical string making. In the 1970s, Galli Strings introduced new technologically advanced equipment into their production process.
Roberto Galli's son, Tommaso, joined the company in 1985. Building on his grandfather's and father's musical and technical achievements, Tommaso Galli has extended into the twenty-first century the Galli tradition of developing and manufacturing fine musical strings.

Comments about Galli Strings G77 BLACK NYLON TAPE WOUND Acoustic Bass Strings 55-115:
I am thrilled with the texture and sound of these strings. I bought them in the hopes they would eliminate my terrible squeak from sliding up and down the neck with round wound strings and am happy to say they are very slick and quiet in that respect, and the tone is very warm and mellow. The not so good news is that the gauge is a bit fatter than what came originally on my Breedlove acoustic bass, and they wouldn't fit through the hole. I literally had to file out the holes with a small rat-tail file to get them to fit through. That was successful, (and with only the tiniest of scratches to the bass - if you try this protect the instrument and be patient filing) Once I got them on the instrument and tuned up I found that the intonation is now way off due to the increased diameter of the strings. That might be the obvious expected result to more experienced musicians, but it was a surprise to me. I will have to look around to see if these come in a lighter gauge, and if they do, I will buy them. Too bad I wasted by money on this set though.
