i was looking for a cost effective IEM solution, and this fit the bill perfectly. i picked up two of these, 1 630.2mhz and 1 659.0 mhz for me (drummer) and my vocalist. as it may have already been stated, the 659.0 mhz has a power "on" indicator on the front. so far so good, i haven't tried out range just yet, but as i type this i am listening to my tracks from across the room with a pair of meelectronics replacements (the included in ears are still in the box unopened. bottom line, for the price it will give you what you need. my only frustration with these, is in all reality the guitar center performance guarantee is pretty much no good for any touring use since if your pack goes out, or something happens, you are pooched, since at least none of the GC around where i live have these in stock and it's a mail order or store delivery only. so if you are accident prone, or tend to plan WAY ahead, order a back up unit...

Works great! Well worth the price!

By WILLIAM

from AZ

I'm not one to go on and on about products. Here is the bottom line. This wireless monitor system does exactly what it needs to do as well as the $500-$600 versions from other competitors. I know this because my guitar player uses the Sure PSM 200($600) and I have tested it as well. The Galaxy Audio AS-900($199 or less) sends a clear signal from the source you send to it. The range as far as I can tell is at least 150 feet and that is with a not so clear line of sight. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a great wireless in ear monitor system. Weather you have a lot of money to spend or not. This is a great choice for a wireless IEM system.

OK for beginners

By Roman

from Portland OR

For the price and for beginners, I'd say it's an OK system, looks and feels pretty good (wen you hold it) but if you're looking for quality sound, then this unit is not for you. Poor quality sound and has background noise when when you crank up the volume. The ear buds that come with it have a very dull sound with no clarity. I bought mine a few weeks back and wasn't impressed at all. For me personally a waste of time and a few bucks, because I'm not gonna sell it for the same price I bought it.

Does Exactly What It's Supposed To

By Chris

from Atlanta, GA

For about a month I had been using a $600 Shure in-ear monitor system that my keyboardist was using. He had an extra pack, so I picked up some headphones and used that with his mix. I decided that I wanted my own mix, but I did not have $600 to blow, so I went with this. Everyone said, it's cheap, it won't work, you'll see, etc. Well, I'm proud to review that this is the same if not better than the reception I was getting off of the Shure unit. The reception is clear, no drop outs, battery life is longer than the 5 hours they state and setup is easy. There isn't much bottom end, but it does what's it's supposed to. This has saved my voice to no end where I can get to the end of two 3+ hour nights of singing and still feel strong vocally. This is a great investment and has good range as well. The only thing to note on this is that I did NOT use the headphones that came with it and opted for a pair of Shure 215's instead, but I tried the ones that came with it and they're fine. The Shure's are just more comfortable. Additionally, the indicator light comes with the K8/659.0 mhz unit, so if you want a power indicator, that's the one to get. There physically is no difference between those selections outside of the frequency and that the 659 one has a power indicator light. You won't have issues with frequency conflicts with other band members unless someone else has a Galaxy Audio wireless unit and if they do, simply find out what their frequency is and get something different. Lastly, the light on the pack will NOT come on if the main receiver isn't on, which freaked me out. I expected that if I put batteries in the unit and turned it on, it will simply light up green to show me that there was power. It doesn't. It won't come on until the receiver is on and it's communicating with it. Would have been good to know that. Outside of that, proceed with confidence. This unit works great.

review of AS-900

By Perry Saunders

from Austin, TX

I've had mine for a few months now. I'd never used an in-ear monitor before. I don't think I can go back to using open-air monitors! I haven't had any problems with this system. I've used it once at a gig and it worked great. I use it at rehearsal and it's so nice to not have to fight to hear myself over the band. In fact what prompted me to buy it was that I listened to a recording of a rehearsal and was displeased with the vocals. I knew that it was because I couldn't hear myself well. The earphones are comfortable. The sound is good and loud. I only put my voice through it so I'm not sure how it would do with other instruments.

Tried & True

By Jesse Lee

from West Palm Beach, FL

The band I play in was already using 3 of these wireless monitors. Now that I bought mine we're using every frequency that the Galaxy Audio Systems come in. They are the best option for this price range. Only a few millisecond interruptions happen very rarely from time to time. Definitely a great value.

Great system!

By JOHN MAJOR

from Highland, CA

I have used the AS-900 (K8/659 MHz) for two separate 5 hour gigs as well as a few practice sessions. Here's what I have found: 1) The signal is great from up to 100 feet or so (I have two powered floor monitors that I use for stage sound and the AS-900 is daisy chained from the output of the second floor monitor - I have only used it in mono) 2) The K8 model has a power light. 3) the wireless pack lasts for about 5 hours with 2 AA batteries 4) I bought Shure SE215 earbuds to use with this system and it sounds great (I will keep the included ear buds as back up). Overall it does what I want it to - It gives me a clean signal and saves my ears and vocals (the SE215's block out almost all stage sound). Most importantly I can finally hear my vocals without blasting my ears off.

Great Starter

By Jesus Garza

from Gilbert, AZ

I bought this unit about 2 weeks ago and love it! It is great quality and has really good sound. I had no issues with it. Just pluged it in and ready to start hearing my vocals and guitar. For the price this is an awesome system. Great for a first wireless system.

Solid- Performs very well

By Paul Haluska

from Rochester, MN

I bought this for personal monitoring and was tired of wires getting in the way of switching guitars. It does a very good job of sending a wireless signal. I the battery life is at least as good (5hrs) as advertised. I like the rackmountability, though is would be nice to actually have the antenna in the front of the module- I think in a my rack system it limits the distance it can reliably transmit, but I am not needing to be 100 feet away from my gear. I occasional get some small amount of interference, but this has not been much of a problem. I would recommend to anyone that wishes to play with in ear monitoring live.

Good value for the money

By Michael P

from Indiana

I was hesitant to purchase a low end personal monitor system but decided to give it a try when G.C. had a promotion. I play in a praise & worship band and we do two services on Sunday and on rehearsal through the week. No interference with the wireless mic's and no unwanted noise so far. Great budget personal monitor system!
