Overview

The Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor packs an amazing punch. Its AS-1100T transmitter has stereo XLR/1/4" inputs, headphone output, and an LCD display which displays the channel and input level. The AS-1100R bodypack receiver has an LCD with channel, battery level, and RF/AF indicator. The AS-1100 is perfect for anyone looking for their first system or to upgrade to the next level. This system operates in the 655 MhZ to 679 MhZ or "L" range.

The AS-1100 is easy to use and replaces floor wedges and the amplifiers that power them. Simply plug the AS-1100 into a 'monitor out' jack on the mixing console, create the desired mix, and it's ready to deliver quality sound. It has 120 selectable UHF frequencies to help locate the best and clearest signal to transmit.

The included AS-1100T transmitter is selectable to either mono or stereo. The AS-1100T has two XLR/1/4" combo jack for its inputs, stereo/mono switch, headphone output, volume control, and LCD display. The transmitter includes a single rackmount kit, for mounting 1 unit in one rack space. A rack tray is available for mounting two transmitters side by side in one rack space.

The included AS-1100R receiver features a 100mw headphone amplifier with a standard 3.5mm (1/8") headphone output. The AS-1100R is sure to be plenty loud for any environment. The receiver has a built in limiter and LCD display.

The Any Spot Series of Wireless Personal Monitors is a great alternative for performers who are tired of lugging around heavy and bulky floor monitors and tired of leaving a gig with ringing ear.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

I play electric and acoustic guitar at a house of worship. I got these as my first in ear monitor system because I did not have the budget for Shure or Sennheiser. At first I was disappointed because the quality of sound was not good but quickly figured out it was not the system but the cheap earbuds they included. Once I spent some money on some Westones I was really happy with the results.

If you get these at minimum you need to also purchase Shure SE215 ear buds to have quality sound in your ears. I use Westones dual driver ear buds and I am pleased with monitoring my Fender Stratocaster coming out of a Line 6 POD HD500X.

I started using energizer batteries but I had to replace them every time I used the system. Duracells will get you through a couple. I bought high mili amps rechargeable batteries and can play confident I wont run out of juice.

I would recommend this product.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

I purchased two of these monitors to use for vocalist. Both began to have issues immedately. The RF screen quit working about two weeks after purchase on one and the other had a terrible frequency noise. I sent them back to Galaxy Audio for replacement/ repair, and they both came back "fixed". That lasted about two weeks and they were broke agian. I asked Galaxy Audio for a refund of the product price and they sent me back to the purchase place. Musicians Friend apparently does not honor manufacture's warranty... Only there 45 day return process. So I am stuck with a horrible product that does not work and not one wants to be responsible for!!!

      Substandard gear & service

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

Device is noisy and pops occasionally. I would recommend Shure if you can afford it. It's ridiculous the hoops you have to jump through for a $20 rebate. I just told them keep it. I'm getting my money back

First one dead out of box. Second one works. GREAT GC Rep support!

      By j modelevsky

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

This IEM works, is a basic monitor, and is a good backup unit to carry. Price is right, but my first one failed right out of the box. My GC Rep, Bryan Pederson (Arlington Heights Store) tested it with me, and got me a replacement. Opening and using it the first time, in a theater on the road, was aggravating. Bryan saved the day for Galaxy and Guitar Center by testing it upon my return, and getting an immediate replacement shipped in.

      Not very satisfied

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

Not happy..I play bass in an 8 piece band..bass, guitar, piano, drums, trumpet, bone, sax and female vocalist. I prefer the entire mix in my ultimate ears personal monitors. Terrible buzzing sound with every note I play on the bass. Happens with guitar too. Everything else is crystal clear. I called Galaxy and was told that they were aware that it was happening and that it was an EQ problem with the system. He suggested that I roll off some of the bottom end on the EQ mix going to the monitors from our mixing board. I suggested that I purchase the Shure PSM200, or the Sennheiser EW 300 IEM G3....You get what you pay for....On my way to Guitar Center as soon as I finish typing....

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

I've been using a wedge monitor for years, but always wanted to try an in-ear unit. I sing lead vocals as well as background vocals and harmonies. A fellow band member had a Nady that he wasn't using so I tried it with a good set of Sony earplugs. I liked the IEM better than the wedge because I could clearly hear my voice. However, the Nady had a lot of white noise and would drop off at times. After researching different brands, I decided on the AS-1100. I love it! Clear sound, no static and easy to use. Wish I'd done this years ago.

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

This unit had a horrible static or fuzz sound every time a note is hit to a point that makes it unusable. Moved it around to see if it was due to interference which didn't make a difference, plugged into the headphone out and did not hear the static so it must have been the receiver. Emailed Galaxy Audio tech support a week prior to writing this review and still have not received a response. I returned it to Musician's friend and they took it back with no problem. Ended up biting the bullet and spending a couple of hundred more on the Shure PSM 200 and WOW! What a difference.

              Great System

              By Loren Klingman

              from SC, USA

Comments about Galaxy Audio AS-1100 UHF Wireless Personal Monitor:

Great system. Loss of a half a star for looks and for having to use the power button to turn it on every time. (If the box loses power (eg when you turn you system off), it won't turn itself back on when you power your system back up. You have to press the power button to turn it on again. Not a huge problem, just an extra button to remember to hit each week.)
The ear buds that it comes with have good response to the sounds you send them and the system will transmit in stereo or mono depending on which you want to use. It also comes with a detachable antenna so you can mount your antenna elsewhere if you so desire. The recievers look cheap but don't let that fool you. I made it all the way back to the nursury at our church and still got good signal strength. Most of our wireless handhelds only make it half that far. The sound was also perfectly clear in the sanctuary. If you made it far enough away from the transmitter to lose signal (which is a long way), you got some drop out, but since it uses a pilot signal you never got any static in your ear it would just drop to silence and the light would turn off to let you know it lost signal. We considered a few other systems before purchasing this one, but they were all either too expensive or had bad sound quality.
