The Galaxy Audio battery-powered Cricket Polarity Test Set makes it easy to determine whether every component in an audio system is in or out of polarity—from patch bay to console to speakers. The Cricket tests balanced and unbalanced cables of up to 2,000 feet in length. It will drive a stage snake (even one with transformers), and indicate which of a microphone's XLR connector pins is hot. The Cricket also plugs directly into a speaker cabinet and drives the components. A glance at the Galaxy Cricket's red and green LED's saves hours of troubleshooting. No wonder the Galaxy Audio Cricket polarity tester is indispensable tool for sound system owners, operators, installers and sound rental companies.

For an individual in the AV industry this tester makes it easy to use and a must in your tool bag. I tested the speakers, mic lines And the equipment, all in one shot. The fact that it has a polarity Check function is a plus. This tool saved me time testing and troubleshooting. The only thing I would add is a pink noise generator in order to equalize the room with an additional Audio spectrum analyzer, then you would have an All-in-one tester. I would definitely recommend it to any AV tech working on Venues, Convention centers, or any Large room with audio systems.
This is an incredibly useful little gadget. The polarity test functions are super-simple, and the cable testing is straightforward, much easier than other testers I've used. The connection flexibility is nice, and the external speaker/microphone let you test pretty much anything.
Battery access is fiddly, but the boxes are all metal and seem well-built. I spent 3 hours in my garage testing speakers and found an out-of-polarity return on one of my snakes. Definitely a nice tool to have around, but you won't know how useful it really is until you hear the results.
