Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

For me this is the Holy Grail in the search for the perfect strat. I have had 100s of Strat guitars, and strat guitars are the ones that I prefer over others BTW even though I have owned great classic and vintage guitars that are highly regarded. For the price and even well higher this guitar can not be beat, I looked at all price ranges from $20 pawn shop strats to high end american strats costing $1000's. This one had the right combination of features for me.

Best tremolo I have ever used, so smooth and stays in tune, has high mass block I mean it is just perfect, you can not find a better tremolo system. I wailed on it up and down as far as it would go many many times and every time it returns to position smoothly and positively every time, and best yet in tune!

Rosewood fingerboard, this is a personal preference for me.

Alnico pickups with a vintage vibe yet has enough bite for heavier stuff when needed. Tone knobs allow you to dial in any sound you need. For me I have to have single coils, that is the sound I crave so no humbuckers for me, no noiseless compromises for me, just raw vintage single coil power!

Flame maple top with mahogany body, this is the Holy Grail of tone wood combinations for me and acoustically this guitar sounds the best to my ears. This is the best sounding wood combination that I have found at any price. Makes me want to cry it rings so clear and true. Since there was only one left I spent several minutes trying to find any flaw with the finish and could not, just stunning!

Quality build an finish, I have long been a fan of guitars built by these craftsman, just nails it for me.

The creme pick guard really to me just has a vintage look on the guitar that I got adding to the visual appeal. Classic styling is also on my list of wants, I got the Sunburst, classic chrome, awesome head stock.

Full thickness, true strat body, this is my favorite and most comfortable body style for me. Even though the body is full thickness the mahogany in my particular guitar is not too heavy which was a godsend. Neck is just perfect for me not sure of the radius exactly or shape but I would think it was standard for G&L guitars of this series. Satin finish is what I prefer on my maple necks for quicker playing for me.

Setup, quality and finish all perfect. Price is awesome! If you are in the market for a strat you can not beat this PLUS this one unlike the Fender and Squiers qualifies for the 36 months same as cash promotion! Demo'd this one against strats that costs twice to three times as much and it was no contest, this one won by far.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

G & L guitars were designed by Leo Fender himself. IMHO these G & L Tribute Series Legacy guitars outperform Fender American Standard Stratocasters at less-than-half the price! Check the online reviews at other websites; many experienced players agree. I have been playing rock, country, blues, and jazz for over 40 years and I have not found a better value for a stratocaster-style guitar! Buy with confidence and enjoy :)

Great guitar for the price

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

The finish on this guitar looks so well done and is just beautiful in my opinion. The overall construction feels nice and tight. The fretboard fits perfectly on the neck. Despite being a fretboard glued onto a neck it actually feels smooth like one solid piece like you would get with a maple fretboard from Fender for example. I'd have to take off the stock strings and replace them to say for sure, but right now it doesn't seem to be holding tune that well, otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars from me.

G&L Guitar Legacy Tribute Flame Top-

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I bought this guitar expecting it to pretty much be a strat. After all, it was Leo Fender's design, right?
Surprises like this are always great. The guitar plays like a strat - most strat bodies do. The truss rod is a newer design and much better but you can't see it. What you can see is the perfect setup on the neck, frets, intonation and smoothness. You can feel that too. You can notice that the whammy bar goes both ways and the strings stay in tune. Then you notice that the tone controls are crazy dynamic. That is when you start giggling and grinning like computer nerd that found a video feed into the cheerleaders dressing room.
That "strat" sound is great but when you have tone control over all your pickups and that tone control is about 300% of what a normal guitar has, you start to realize you're getting 3 guitars for the price of one. That and the fact that the sound personifies the very best of what you hope for in a strat and all of a sudden you are swearing by the guitar and want to sell off all your others.
It's hard to verbalize a sound but I have a Danelectro with a particular sound I love to use on surf*ish* style guitar parts. This G&L guitar is more dynamic that my old strat, my danelectro and has room to spare to put another complete guitar in there too.
The one I bought is from Indonesia but I would not be able to tell from looking at it. It is so much better put together than any strat I've ever had (that includes american and Japanese) that it is hands down better.
Yes I compared this to a strat. How can I not. It's a Leo Fender creation and looks just like one. This guitar has an fantastic finish, perfect tolerances, sounds amazing through a spectrum of tones that could equal 3 guitars, has great sustain, and feels very solid. It also has the new technology that Leo didn't sell with fender.
To put it in a simple way, I will be buying G&L guitars as a mainstay from here on out.
This particular guitar will likely be a collector guitar soon.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

Ok, well this is my second G & L guitar, and this is a superior instrument. Fit and finish are outstanding.I bought transparent black and it is beautiful. Electronics are first rate , set-up and intonation were spot on right out of the box.Don't be fooled by the price , this guitar is a joy to play. I own several guitars including a MIM FSR Strat and an American Standard Strat. These G & L guitars are a great alternative to some of the squires and MIM products. I do not have a complaint about any of my Strats, and I am telling you you will not regret any G & L product.Tone for miles... clean or dirty this axe handles it's business. If it were lost or stolen I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Check out G & L on youtube and decide for yourself.

This guitar has a solid built feel to it. Maybe I am just fortunate but this was the best set up guitar right from the factory that I have bought even when compared to those I bought at a much higher price. For comfort, playability, sound and price this is an excellent value.

Comments about G&L Tribute Series Legacy with Flamed Maple Top:

I first noticed the guitar I bought some months back. Being now an acoustic player, I put it off. But, I kept coming back, and made the purchase after Black Friday... decided I had already pressed my luck to the limit. Mine is a sunburst maple flame top Legacy Tribute made in Indonesia for Guitar Centers. I really like the maple flame top, it was a strong selling point, but only because the guitar sounds great and plays well. As others have said, the fit and finish are superb. Mine had been on the "self" for a while, and I am sure was played by a number of people, but it was still in new condition and tight. I have had Strats,Teles, and this is my second G & L (had one about 30 years ago). For comparison, I tried some Strats, Teles, and even a PRS before I bought the G & L. Guitar selections are very personal, at least they are me. Still, I just do not think you can go wrong with this guitar if it you are looking for a Strat-type electric.
