Never bought a mail order guitar before. Have been playing since the 60's and own plenty of Fender Strats, Teles, and my 64 Jazzmaster purchased new in high school. Guitar arrived just about in tune, with minor fret buzz on the G string. Played it for a week, adjusted neck, string height, and intonation.
The guitar plays and looks beautiful.
I don't know how you could ask for any better for the price. I wasn't expecting much, and figured I could return it to Guitar Center...but It's not going anywhere.

The guitar arrived in rough shape. It must have been sitting on a shelf for a long time because the frets were very tarnished with corrosion and the strings were rusty in spots. The action was way too low and the volume on the bass E string was too loud. The electronics, jack, body, and neck were fantastic. The paint job is flawless. I had the box out pack it up and return it, but played it one last time and decided it had potential.

I brought it to my luthier to evaluate it and he said he could fix it up. It took more than polishing the frets because underneath the corrosion were sanding marks. He fully dressed the frets, adjusted the action and pickups, put some new strings on it, cleaned up the nut, and it's a new guitar!! The tone and feel is fantastic! So much fun to play. This is my first Tele style guitar and I'm loving it. A much different voice from my strat.

Bottom line...it's a great guitar **BUT** plan on putting some effort or more $$$ to getting it into shape. If you want a great player out of the box, look elsewhere.

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

This guitar met all of my expectation and exceeded many. I was on a pretty tight budge and was shopping both new and used market and I enjoyed this guitar the most out of pretty much every comparable guitar I could get my hand on. I even did blind tests with MIA and MIM Fenders. I would have had to spent double to get a Fender that felt as good as the G&L and it blew the squire line out of the water. I even had a had time telling the MII and MIA G&L's apart especially because they used the same pick ups. I will definitely be buying another G&L at some point in the future.

This is a nice guitar that is fun to play at an affordable price.
I have been playing on and off for about 40 years and I enjoy
playing this guitar as much as my Gibson LP Standard
or my PRS Custom 22. Also rivals my American Strat.
The feel of the neck and the playability are so nice.
This would be a great guitar to learn on as well as for use
in playing gigs. The controls are responsive and the
Olympic White (cream color) make it an overall beautiful
package. And getting it at discounted price was nice too.

4 stars because this guitar does exactly what it has been designed to do: provide a well built and good quality Telecaster-type tone at a very affordable price point. Intonation, tone, setup, etc all very good. This is my 3rd G&L Tribute. I have owned a Will Ray model, along with the ASAT Special. G & L puts out great guitars at ALL prices.

Comments about G&L Limited Edition Tribute ASAT Classic Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a Tele for years. To tell the truth, I only went with this G & L because I have a G & L strat (Legacy) and I love it so much. So I figured for this price I would get their Tele. It plays great, Tone knob is so responsive, you can do a little for than Leo's original Tele's. this is his Tele in turbo mode. But it still gives you
all the Tele-riffic tones your looking for in this type of guitar. Any style of music is acheivable. For giggers, this thing is light and the tuners are awesome. stays in tune not matter how hard you hit it. But the main thing I love besides the comfort is the TONE.
