The G&L Comanche is Leo's final word on the traditional double-cutaway bolt-on axe. Fact is, the first thing you'll notice about the Comanche is the distinctive shape of the Magnetic Field Design Z-Coil pickups designed by Leo Fender himself. These pickups deliver a bright and sparkly top end while offering a robust bottom end, all without any 60-cycle hum.
You'll find plenty of power in the Z-coil pickups, but what's surprising is how glassy and detailed they become as you roll back the volume and bass controls, the latter a part of the Comanche's PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) system. What's more, the Comanche includes a mini-toggle expander switch to allow neck+bridge or all three pickups together. In a pinch, the neck+bridge combo does a convincing faux ASAT Special.
Making the most of this delicious combo is Leo's Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, a work of engineering art which allows bending up or down with unsurpassed stability, while offering a silky feel through its beefy aluminum vibrato arm.

Comments about G&L Comanche Electric Guitar:
I recently bought a G&L Comanche and am impressed with its build quality and tone options. Overall I think it sounds great, looks great, and feels comfortable to play. These are the things I like about the G&L Comanche: - Tone controls: The Comanche's tone controls are different from a typical Fender Stratocaster - One of the controls adjusts treble, and the other adjusts bass. Being able to adjust the treble and bass independently gives a wide variety of tone, making this guitar very flexible. Also, the treble & bass controls apply to all pickups equally. - "Expander" switch that enables 2 additional pickup options: With this enabled, you can use the bridge & neck pickups together (positions 1 & 5 on the pickup selector) or all 3 pickups together (positions 2 & 4 on the pickup selector). Personally I like the sounds from both of those options. The bridge & neck pickups together sounds a little more twangy (what some might call a Telecaster-like sound), and all 3 pickups together sound a little more sparkly/balanced (I'm not sure how to best describe it). - Hum-cancelling pickups: The split-coil (AKA Z-Coil) pickups on the Comanche are designed to cancel out hum that you would typically get from surrounding electronics (such as fluorescent lights, etc.) from a typical single-coil pickup. I like to not have to be bothered with the typical single-coil hum. Despite being hum-cancelling, these pickups are not muddy-sounding - They sound open and clear. While they don't sound 100% like what you might expect from a typical single-coil Strat pickup, they still sound great, just a little different. You can still get the guitar to sound very close to a Strat by adjusting the treble & bass controls. - Well-built and customizable: The guitar feels very solid and well-made. Also, G&L allows their guitars to be custom-ordered but still at a fairly reasonable price. Depending on the options, the price can be around $200 more than a Fender American Standard Stratocaster (as opposed to Fender's Custom Shop, which would cost at least twice as much). I think that makes G&L a great value. I ordered mine with the blue burst finish, maple neck (with G&L's "slim C" profile), locking tuners, and white pearl pick guard.
Comments about G&L Comanche Electric Guitar:
I am really happy with my G&L Comanche. Playability is awesome. The guitar has a unique sustain to it that has some attack but a warm follow through. The guitar is very well made. The sound waves travel through the entire guitar. The thing vibrates in your hands in a good way. It's like a Strat except better. I'm using all three pickups together which are giving me a little softer edge and great distortion tones. I have had to alter my playing style a bit though. I played a PRS Custom 24 10 top before this and the G&L actually has more personality. I could not be happier with the guitar. I did have the guys at Guitar center set up the intonation and action for me though because it came in out of balance. Buy this one. You won't regret it.
