Comments about GHS Original Acoustic Soundhole Microphone:

I've used one of these for years. It works quite well. However, if you play in LOUD settings, you may have feedback problems, and should probably buy one of those under-saddle horror shows. You can find pickups/mics that sound better than this one, but they cost FIVE times the price of this mic. This is a real microphone, so you avoid the horrible, quacky, electric tone of virtually every under-saddle pickup. The sound is very good, though not absolutely perfect (a little EQ helps). The soundhole mounting is not rock-solid, but basically, unless you're going to spend $300.00, just buy one of these beauties.

Comments about GHS Original Acoustic Soundhole Microphone:

I needed something to amplify my 1938 Kalamazoo mandolin to record it to my digital recorder. I got it to fit pretty well and did my recording. It come out really well. It did what I needed it to do with no problems.

Dont spend your money on this.

Comments about GHS Original Acoustic Soundhole Microphone:

I bought this item and will be returning it tomorrow. It does not have a good volume setting so you have to turn your gain way up to even barely hear it. Save your money and buy something nicer.

    GHS Original Acoustic Soundhole Microphone

    By Eric Solomon

    from Ronkonkoma, NY

Comments about GHS Original Acoustic Soundhole Microphone:

Having spent several tears playing acoustic guitar I opted to go for some amplification for live situations. I had looked at and tried several acoustic soundhole pickups, but all with varying degrees of disappointment. As I am playing a '92 Guild D-15 dreadnaught which has an amazing warm and round tone, it has been difficult to find something that translates the sound of my guitar accurately. With the GHS Acoustic Soundhole Microphone I have been able to preserve the sound of the guitar without losing any of the tone and without the flat effect that a pickup seems to produce. My only complaint would be that it might be better with a padded clip to attach the microphone assembly more securely to the rim of the soundhole. As it is the microphone has a tendency to wobble somewhat and delves into the realm of feedback depending on the varying position of the microphone. I would recommend to any of my fellow players that they invest in one for just these reasons. Despite its drawbacks, and every product has them, it is a quality piece of equipment and is quite reasonably priced.
