Love this gauge to start with. These strings are MONSTERS! For a standard tuning guitar, these strings are simply way too heavy, definitely for at least for a full step down tuning. My favorite strings are Elixir polywebs... however Not all my guitars are tuned into standard, and Elixir DOES NOT offer polywebs in anything special, or bigger than a 10. So I went back to GHS... I used to play GHS strings back when I was probably 15. GHS strings are just awesome. They have thick cores, and hold tension VERY well. These strings stay plenty tight in drop C tuning and sometimes even lower. I use a trem guitar with them, the thin/thick does not effect tuning the bridge like I had thought. Love being in low tuning, and still being able to bend the high strings easily. In drop C tuning, your high strings on this set are going to feel like 9 gauge strings in standard tuning, maybe slightly thicker. TRY THEM!!!!
These strings have a really great tone the only problem is the high e string popped on in 2 weeks so yeah i recommend you guys to use rotosound strings those are really awsome and last way longer then ghs.
I play alot of metal and hard, progressive rock, and these strings are perfect for that style. The "Dynamite Alloy" on the thickest strings gives them great tone to crank out heavy riffs and the steel on the thinnest ones give exceptionally bright solos. Completely affordable, they feel great once they stretch out, and have by far the best tone I have ever heard out of guitar strings. Recommended to any Metal player!
I've played guitar since 1986 and have gone through many strings. I've gone through various GHS types along my trial and error adventures of the string industry, trying to find "the right one" for me and this GHS Boomers TNT set is the best set I've ever used. I use this set on EVERY guitar I own and have since 1996. 12 years and counting. TNTs are the most reliable part of my rigs, time and time again.
I've used many brands and gauges over the years. Using various types and guages for different styles, but since I've started using GHS Boomer TNTs more then a decade ago, I haven't used anything else since. They hold up to the most demanding playing and always stay in tune. Some think I'm crazy for using them on a tremelo, as the lows are very thick for some players, but if Ive never had an issue. TNTs since 1994 and still my only choice. With 20+ years experience, THIS is THE ONLY set I highly recemmemd.
I've played guitar since I was 11 years old and began trying out different brands and types up until I was about 16. I bought a pair of GHS Boomers, then bumped up to the TNT's on my 2nd pair. I'M NOW 30 AND HAVE RELIED ON THIS SET ON EVERY ELECTIREC GUITAR I OWN EVER SINCE. (That's well over a decade!!!). Sure, I've played a friend's guitar with a different brand a few times, it just wasn't the same though. THERE IS NOTHING BETTER THEN GHS BOOMERS TNT's. PERIOD.
I've used these strings on my low tuned guitar for a while now. they take forever to wear out and break. I can drop my guitar down to Bb tuning without worry of my strings becoming unplayable. Even better, they stay in tune when they're detuned so low, unlike thicker strings. In my opinion, GHS makes the best sounding, longest lasting strings on the market now.
I travel cross country, playing all styles of music, from classic rock to country to jazz to blues to Christian, and I've tried a lot of different strings. TNT Boomers give the sound I need when I'm covering SRV, CCR, Doobies, Eagles, George Strait, Hank Williams, Jr., Los Lonely Boys, Maroon Five, Frank Sinatra...the list goes on. Other strings seem to do great with some styles but fall short with others, but TNT Boomers cover it all and feel great the whole time, while offering long life and stay-in-tune reliability. I think GHS has put together a great string configuration, and I'll keep using TNT Boomers as long as they're available.
I have used these strings for years and I love them. When stringing your guitar, tune to D because if you tune to standard E, the high E will snap (I know from experience). These are great for everything: jamming, shows, and recording.
