GHS Hawaiian black nylon strings are great! My martin tenor ukulele and my custom tenor ukulele both have these babies on em right now. Increases resonance and aren't too bright. Reliability: These strings have held up for 5 months so far, with no sign of wear. Sound: like I said, these strings are not over-treble-y. These have a really balanced tone. Quality: They are the best I have tried out yet in my 10 years of playing Uke Look & Feel: They feel even better than they sound. Overall: GREAT STRINGS!
If you get into ukulele, you realize how sensitive they are to string changes. These GHS strings sound terrible on cheaper laminate ukes and quiet ukes because they aren't loud or bright like Aquila strings are, so don't expect that from them. But the truth is, the ukulele is ment to have a mellow sound, so if you have an overly bright sounding ukulele, these will help to keep that bark down and mellow things out. They do work well in some cases, so if you have a ukulele that is bright to the point of harshness, you might want to try these out.
