i bought these strings because of a metal bassist's (Andy trick) endorsement and they perform like it says, clear brilliant tone and so far they have held up very well. i play with a pick, and i like to have a good bit of harsh attack and i get that from these strings without them being to plucky. i had d'addario's before that, which came with my 5string guitar and they lasted a good while and sounded pretty good but i felt like the heavier strings were too flat bass. i love the way they taper at the end also the red ends look too good on my bass. i have a 34" scale bass and they reach the nut easily so i don't know what that other guys talking about the strings not reaching.
I'm sure the strings are fine, but the fact is, they don't fit my bass. I like how they taper down at the end to make winding easier, but especially on the E and B strings, it starts way too early, making it unplayable on the open strings, and a buzz when its not open. I have had these strings for, well, a day, and I'm making a trip back out to the store soon. I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed...
i bought these strings to replace the strings on a used bass i bought. the low end tone is incredible, but on the higher strings, it sounds a little dull. im definitely gonna get GHS but next time im gonna get the steels to get a brighter tone.
