A whole new take on capo design that works beautifully.

The G7th 12-String Performance Guitar Capo is designed specifically for enhanced performance on 12-string guitars, and it's simple to use. Not only that, it looks and feels great! Push the lever to release the arms. Features a longer arm than the standard model - for wider fingerboards. A specially formulated rubber applies even pressure to the octave strings. The G7th Capo fits snugly behind the fret. Squeeze to tighten it from above or below. Simply press the lever to release the Performance capo.G7th Capos employ a wrap-spring clutch that consists of just 3 elements: a fixed hub, a moving hub, and a spring whose inside diameter is just slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the 2 hubs. When the spring is forced over the 2 hubs, attempting to rotate in the direction which opens the capo wraps it down tightly on the hubs, positively engaging them. Rotation in the other direction, to tighten the G7th Capo onto the strings, is not restricted. To release the capo, the control tang is moved in the direction to unwind the spring, thus releasing the clutch. The beauty of this type of clutch for use in a guitar capo is that it can be adjusted in tiny increments. The clutch mechanism is a modified tried-and-tested design used in printers and copiers to provide a simple decoupling and overrun device.

  • QUITE A CAPO

As reviewed by Johnny Guitar on 11/17/2009

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years and I own five other capos. None of them were able to do what this one did for my new acoustic/electric Martin 12-string jumbo guitar ...effectively hold down the thinner octave strings G-D-A-E, as well as, the regular strings, making it sound as though there was no capo in use at all. I could capo up to the fifth fret without having to retune the guitar. This capo is extremely easy to use and it does not pull the strings out of tune (much). Only a minimum of tuning is required before playing the instrument again. The Korg GA 40 is ideal for tuning a 12 string guitar. It is also small enough to play a standard B7th chord, with your palm and fingers extending over the top of it, without too much effort. In short, if you have a 12 string, this is the best capo to give you a clear sound, no string buzz and an ease of operation that makes this capo worth the money that you'll have to shell out for it. I could not be more pleased with this product. It does everything that it should and more.

The capo works great on my Takamine 12 string. Easy and quick to install. I recommend a buy.

  • G-7th 12 string capo

As reviewed by Mathew on 11/13/2009

I tried a 12-string in my local shop, used a Kyser 12-string capo, which worked quite well. I just bought a Leo Kottke 12-string and ordered the G-7th 12-string capo with it, but wish I would have gone for the Kyser. Priced better, yes, but more importantly, the G-7th does not depress all of the strings no matter how hard I squeeze it down. Cool design, but for the 12-string it is not strong enough. And who doesn't want a good capo with that lower tuning? I will be returning it and using the Kyser.
