A factory-modded version of Leo's traditional single-cutaway with a neck humbucker.

The G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy is a factory-modded version of Leo's final word on the traditional single-cutaway bolt-on axe. For players looking for the unmistakable warmth of a classic humbucker in the neck position, the Bluesboy delivers with a well-balanced pairing of a Seymour Duncan Seth Lover alnico humbucker and a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design bridge pickup designed by Leo Fender. Framed in a classic boxed-steel bridge, the single-coil MFD bridge pickup delivers crisp attack with complex harmonics while individual brass saddles offer modern levels of intonation refinement. Flip to the neck ‘bucker and you'll discover all the charismatic warmth you could ask for. Put ‘em together and you'll find yourself immersed in exploring the limits of this guitar's surprising versatility.

The Bluesboy's hard-rock maple neck features an easy-playing satin finish, while its 12" radius lets you bend notes deeply and its Plek-dressed medium-jumbo nickel frets deliver silky playability. The moment you open the luxurious custom-fit Tolex hardshell case made by G&G Quality Case Co., you'll be greeted with a stunning instrument.

TLDR's: This is a guitar that is equivalent or better than Fender Custom shop quality but for much lower. Play ability is awesome, and tones are great! Get a G&L before their popularity grows and the prices go up. Custom quality at regular prices. The review: I don't give out 5 stars. From yelp to here. The product has to be fantastic . . . but in the rare cases, this has to be one. The online community often touts G&L's quality and even the most die hard Fender crews over at TDPRI or Fender forums or strat talk will know that Leo's final musical weapons bore his finest. This is the Excalibur of telecasters. The play-ability is "like a glove" . . . Though I am used to a 9.5" Fender C, my hands adapted to it (this weapon's radius is 12" and had done as much damage as a M-16 in a rifleman's hands . . . in the fight to destroy Communism and vehicle for music that brought down the Berlin wall or that causes the Ayatollah to get his police to destroy every Pink Floyd tape in the country). It has a satin silk like feel, like a well worn vintage, but it isn't relic'd. Smooth and fast, I can hear James Brown crying out. The set was well done. YMMV . . . as some may say its high, but I like to bust out a slide, so the factory default works. The tuning machines are god like, and so much that I only tuned it once during the week. And then a tinny tiny adjustments. I didn't think they made tuners like this. Be careful as its sensitive like a rabid FPS gamer with a twitchy mouse so if ample turn, and you'd have non standard tuning. Fit & Finish: Excellent! The only thing I have a slight issue is the input jack. It's tilted (and not in line with the angle of the body) but its in a direction that helps when I string the cable through the strap so actually what's a mistake is actually an advantage. I don't like using right angle plugs . . . Controls and switch are solid, like 60's Mustang or a the WW 2 warbird of the same name. This is thing is clean enough to eat off of it. It's great. The hardware is top notch and the guitar is sturdy. The weight is midrange, but nothing close to a LP / H-150 (which I tend to use more). The pickups are in a class all by itself. Everyone / everytone thinks the tele is based off the twang, and yes that would be true if this was the ASAT alnico classic or vintage fender tele but not here. The humbucker is sweet and can rock out. Even in a bedroom and beginner amp like a the unmodded champ 600, this guitar still sings, and I can hear the quality (vs a custom shop designed MIM tele). When I used this on a plexi reissue, even my mediocre playing head turned my friend (who's Page like), and a bassist that's won bass contests consistently since he was 9. I can't wait to own a true tube amp to hear this thing go. I like all the pick up selections, its a standard 3 way. I like all the tones, unlike lesser Teles where I like one or two and that's it. But anything from this guitar is just fab. The pick ups are top notch, and I can easily get a variety tones. This guitar can play a wide range of styles, so you can take on any guitar fu master without skipping a beat (unless the song calls for it). However this does not have the definitive twang, but dude, it has a humbucker, and it can go all styles and fit in. It's easy to dial in for highs, and harder to get the icepick than normal twang equipped teles. The definitive twang is more for the ASAT classic or Vintage / customer Fenders. This thing has something rare. The bass strings boom out, and I can make them out fairly well, but its balanced with the trebles that ring. It's quite possible (I'm used to fender modern bridge or vintage 3 brass saddles) due to the individual saddles. Made in US, and well made. If it was stolen, I'd replace it with same model. Will use G&L for next guitar . . . The case is a standard case, will protect the guitar except in submersion or airline baggage handlers.
