Overview

Like its Merit series predecessor, the Furman M-8x, the Furman M-8x2 power conditioner is an ideal low-cost AC power solution for any rackmount system, just in a chassis that is 3.5" shorter. The 1U M-8x2 also has eight switched AC outlets in the rear panel to power and protect all your audio equipment with up to a 15-amp load.

The Furman M-8x2 power conditioner protects your electronic equipment by combining high voltage varistor (MOV) surge and transient suppressors. The fast-acting suppression circuit quickly responds and clamps transient voltages to safe levels. An RFI/EMI interference filter works to prevent and suppress noise from fluorescent lights, certain dimmers, radio transmitters, and similar sources of electronic pollution from contaminating the AC line and from there, leaking into sensitive audio, video, or computer circuits. The Furman M-8x2 power conditioner is NRTL/TUV listed.

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

A great product. We use it as a sort of rack mounted outlet. Aside from that we don't see any other benefit. Does the job that we purchased it for.

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

Bought this to power up a couple of things in my rack. Works as advertised. Only complaint is that they should have had a couple of the outlets mounted horizontally for larger plugs. I had to mount a power strip in my rack as well to power my wireless and tuner which have larger plugs.

Excellent Power conditioner and surge protection

    By Nick

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

Removes noise, conditions power, and provides EXCELLENT surge protection! You should search youtube for "Furman vs. a typical surge strip" and watch the video. They induce a very severe, continued surge of power....and the normal power strip with "surge protection" bursts into flames... There's plenty of outlets on the back, so it works great as a "main" power switch for all your equipment as well so you can turn everything on and off with one switch and not risk wearing out the switches on the actual equipment. I have two of this particular model, and I love them both!

Great power conditioning at a great price.

    By Colin Weaver

    from Cincinnati, OH

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

Love this unit, especially for the price. I have a relatively modest home studio at the moment, and I was having pretty typical "studio noise" problems -- hums, buzzing, etc. I did some research in the cause of these problems, and was pretty worried that I might just have bad grounding in my house (which would be quite expensive to fix!). But, I figured before I go nuts, I'd start shielding/replacing things with a systematic approach. The first thing I did was by the M-8x2... And that was it! No more problems. I'm running my whole setup into the thing. My monitors, mac mini, all of my rack gear, my amps, etc. I haven't had a single problem since. I was sincerely worried I'd have to call an electrician out and shell out a fortune to get my electricity clean, but 70 bucks and one Furman unit later my problems are gone! It's also incredibly convenient in terms of size -- only takes up one space in my rack, and looks nice and discrete. The build quality is also top-notch on this bad boy. I have a feeling I could throw this thing out of a moving train and it'd survive (not that I plan on trying any time soon). One reviewer was complaining about RFI (radio frequency interference) with his guitar pedals -- it's worth noting that the M-8x2 probably isn't at fault here. You can "treat" your electricity all you want, but if your cables and stompboxes are cheap or unshielded, you're still going to have problems. I have a SUPER old ungrounded Bell tube amp and I've used it both at home and in a state-of-the-art studio, and that thing always buzzes/picks up radio no matter WHAT. Look at the source before you go blaming your power conditioner!

    Surge Protection

    By Terrence Phillips

    from Richmond, Va

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

Im a Mobile DJ and I don't know about you but my equipment isn't cheap. It gives me a better piece of mind knowing I have some type of surge protection for my amps and other equipment which is basically my investment. So with constantly doing different venues, its good to know my stuff is protected.

Did not stop my RFI interference

    By Jay

    from Dallas, TX

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

I have a couple of pedals that for some reason get RFI (Radio Frequency Interference). When I connect my guitar to the amp I get "0" interference but when I connect the pedals I get an FM station that is rather loud a very annoying problem. This equipment states that "An RFI/EMI interference filter works to prevent and suppress noise from fluorescent lights, certain dimmers, radio transmitters, and similar sources of electronic pollution from contaminating the AC line and from there, leaking into sensitive audio, video, or computer circuits" It did nothing to eliminate the radio frequency I am getting at all. I connected the pedals and the amp to the Furman M-8X2 and it did nothing to eliminate the problem. I send it back to G.C I had great expectations about this product.

    amazing quality affordable price

    By Darryl "BIG D" Payne

    from New Orleans, La.

Comments about Furman M-8X2 Power Conditioner:

I purchased this unit in January of 2010 to protect my gk fusion 550 bass head. I immediately heard the difference the moment connected my jazz bass into my rig. The old saying is "bought lesson, best taught lesson". I gig all around town, in New Orleans and the Metro area. I lost an Ampeg S V T 3pro to a power surge playing in one of the city's 5 star hotels. The power surge possibly originated from the elevators in the Hotel. If you don't want to learn my lesson. I urge you to buy this unit.
