Overview

Housed in a beautiful, powdercoated blue 16-gauge steel enclosure, the Fulltone Ful-Drive 2 pedal is capable of everything from clean boost to raw, non-compressed overdrive via its two switchable channels. With Volume, Tone, Overdrive, and Boost knobs along with toggle switches for selecting Vintage/CompCut modes and MOSFET/Standard overdrive styles.

MOSFET and Standard modes each deliver their own clipping style, with the MOSFET adding more bottom end and roundness to the sound. The pedal's Tone knob is an effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. Vintage mode provides a traditional midrange bump.

The second, footswitchable Boost channel, with its own separate distortion control, is perfect for medium- to higher-gain overdrive with a more singing, violin-like sustain.

Named the Best Stompbox of 2006 by Guitar Player magazine, it'll do great things for your sound.

Features
  • Offers clean boost and overdrive via two channels
  • Durable, 16-gauge steel enclosure
  • Volume, Tone, Overdrive, Boost controls

This is the best overdrive pedal on the market. No questions about it. I've been looking for the perfect match of amp and OD pedal for years and years - amp ODs, while they sound amazing, just always lacked something to me, while pedals always sounded harsh and brittle or dark and muddy. Until one of my friends played a gig and I saw him use this pedal through his Fender Bassman Reissue. It sounded soo good, I had to try it out myself. I play a lot of different styles - blues, jazz, rock, even a little metal and shred. It leaves a little to be desired for metal playing, but in a pinch, it works. I'm still keeping it the rating at 5 stars, because this pedal was NOT designed for metal playing. However, for everything else, you get gorgeous, transparent tone, clean articulation, and a wide range of customization options to get your own tone. I've played this through VOX's, Fenders, a Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, a Marshall, and a couple Bogners - it sounds absolutely fantastic. I play live most of the time thought a Line 6 POD X3 Live, and it sounds amazing in front of that. Typical settings (based on AM/PM): Vol: 11a, Tone: 11a-1p, depending on the amp and venue, OD: 1p for main playing, about 9a-10a for cleaner, bluesier tones, and keep the boost cranked when I need it. If I need a little more drive than the boost can give off, I use a Keeley-modded DS-1 right after this pedal as more of a slightly dirty boost, and it kicks it up as far as I would ever need. Would I replace this product if stolen? In a heartbeat. I won't play anywhere without my Fulldrive. I can live without the Fulltone Fat Boost and the DS-1 and some other pedals I have, but not this one. This is a TONE MACHINE.

Bought this peddal based on numerous reviews & demos on YouTube. Got it home & plugged it up and the Comp Cut did not work at all. The drive was too much turned completely down with the volume at noon. The boost function only works with the drive channel engaged. It will not function as a stand alone boost. I found this pedal to be overrated at best. Its built like a tank, with quality components, but it did not live up to the hype for me. I was really disappointed in the boost function only working with the drive channel engaged. Even then the boost is not that great. I took it back the next day & ordered a Fat Boost. Hopefully that works better.

Sweet, singing overdrive!

By Russ Rogers

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Fulltone Fulldrive 2 mosfet is absoulutely the best effects pedal a blues player can have. The distortion on the overdrive channel is amazing, and when you play the boost channel, it sings with amazing power and drive! If you are a blues, classic rock player, this is definitely the pedal for you, however if you play metal or harder rock, it probably wont have enough gain for you. I love it though!

Fulldrive 2 Mosfet GEP

By Jimbo

from West Covina , CA

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have been searching for a guitar pedal that would enhance the sound of my Epiphone Dot simi-hollow guitar. I've tried other pedals, even though they sounded good with other guitars, they just didn't give the sound that I was looking for with my Epiphone. Until I plugged in the Fulton Fulldrive 2 Mosfet. This pedal gives the sounds that I was looking, that guitar just sings with a clear distortion using either the Com cup or the Vintage swicthes. This pedal didn't change the mellow sound it enhanced it. I use the sonic stomp and planetwave tuner in line with the Full-Drive 2. Its very easy to use. Buy it

Fulltone MOSFET Overdrive Pedal: great product

By Bob The Guitar Player

from Southwick, MA

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have tried half a dozen overdrive or distortion pedals over the years, mostly with my American Standard Strat. This one falls among the best because of all the tweaking I can do with regard to the degree of distortion and how "hard" or "soft" I want the distortion to be. the controls actually work. I admit I haven't fully explored all the tonal capabilities (having done only 2 gigs with it so far), but I like it much better than the Boss Blues Driver or the TS-9 or TS-808 pedals. I think I like it better than the Digitech Eric Clapton pedal, mostly because it's simpler to use. The pedal is solidly constructed and you can actually see the indicator lights even on an outdoor stage in bright sunlight. If you play classic rock/blues, you should at least try one of these before sinking almost $200 into any overdrive pedal. If it was stolen I would immediately buy another!

Flawless

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this as a Christmas present, and I can't remember one single where I've played through an amp at home without this. It's absolutely amazing. I play classic rock and blues with a Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded Mahogany through a Fender Blues Junior Tweed. The tone on this is extremely transparent, only adding a huge, overdriven sound to my clean tone. You can even get awesome hard rock tones if you use this as a booster for your cranked amp. It's got all the drive I'll ever need. I've got a new favorite brand.

magic box?

By mojohand

from lake worth florida

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

Picked up my Full drive 2 yesterday. I plugged it in and could not move away from it. This pedal is incredible. I was able to dial in the tone I have been searching for in about 10 minutes. I have been using a lot of different overdrives but every thing sounded tinny had no soul until now. The FD2 Took me from glassy cleans to thick chunky drives. I play through a Marshall TSL 100 retubed with JJ's.I use a strat as my main guitar. You want Svr tone? You want Robin Trower's thick bluesy overdrive? You can get it all from this pedal. This pedal was well worth the price. It's really two pedals in one. For me this was truly a magic box. I am now a fan of Fulltone products. My next purchase will be a Deja Vibe 2. I almost forgot. The other gear on my pedalboard include;Crybaby wah,Boss GE 7 EQ,Boss Ns 2 Noise supressor and a Korg Pitch Black tuner. I use a Lexicon Mx 200 Dual Reverb Processor into my effects loop for reverb, delay, flange, phase and other time based effects. This was the best addition to my rig. It made the rest the components come alive. My suggestion, pay a little more for quality it will improve your tone and improve your playing because you won't be able to put it down.

Excellent versatility and tone

By Henry

from Orange County, CA

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this as a Christmas present last year. Immediately upon getting, I knew it was great pedal. Recently however, (as I have improved a lot over the last year) this has proven to be way more versatile than I originally thought. The vintage mode is an instant trip to great classic overdrive tones, sounding just as good as any other "Plexi in a box". It sings with great, warm drive that is given new life with the boost function. The FM mode is great if you already have the right base amp tone and you need something really transparent. While standard gives you a great drive on its own, the Mosfet switch is when things really kick in, giving you great, bottom end responsive and complex tones. At last Comp Cut mode is a total trip. It can give you a great clean boost just as good as any other. However, if you bring up the overdrive and volume knobs, it begins to sound just shy of fuzz territory, conjuring up gritty Hendrix fuzz tones. This is truly a remarkable overdrive with an array of simply awesome tones. I highly recommend it to any blues or rock player that wants great tone.

Same brand, better pedal for cheaper

By Jason

from Ohio

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

First let me say great, great pedal.I "demo'ed" this along side the Fulltone OCD overdrive and MY conclusion(ears) lead me to keep the OCD over the Fulldrive. The Fulldrive does just what it says, really nice pedal. The side-by-side was very close. The OCD just had a "thinkness and more warmth" than the Fulldrive. Be sure to check out all the Fulltone line before buying this one. All-n-all U can't go wrong w/ Fulltone,,,,100% true-bypass- warm overdrive.

Best Drive Pedal - Period !

By Blaine

from SF, CA

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is the best pedal on the market - PERIOD! There's some other reviews here at 3 and 4 stars that don't understand this pedal and how to use it. This is a super high quality pedal designed by a player. It's sound is subtle and rich and the additional boost takes it to another level. I looked at every pedal out there and thought I wasn't going to find the perfect sound. Then I plugged in the Fulldrive 2 and instantly fell in love. This pedal gives lots of tone options and sensitve drive and distortion settings. If you are looking for the best drive pedal out there - this is it - especially if you are a Fender Strat or Tele player.
