Overview

Housed in a beautiful, powdercoated blue 16-gauge steel enclosure, the Fulltone Ful-Drive 2 pedal is capable of everything from clean boost to raw, non-compressed overdrive via its two switchable channels. With Volume, Tone, Overdrive, and Boost knobs along with toggle switches for selecting Vintage/CompCut modes and MOSFET/Standard overdrive styles.

MOSFET and Standard modes each deliver their own clipping style, with the MOSFET adding more bottom end and roundness to the sound. The pedal's Tone knob is an effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. Vintage mode provides a traditional midrange bump.

The second, footswitchable Boost channel, with its own separate distortion control, is perfect for medium- to higher-gain overdrive with a more singing, violin-like sustain.

Named the Best Stompbox of 2006 by Guitar Player magazine, it'll do great things for your sound.

Features
  • Offers clean boost and overdrive via two channels
  • Durable, 16-gauge steel enclosure
  • Volume, Tone, Overdrive, Boost controls
  • Selectable Vintage/CompCut and MOSFET/Standard modes

This is the best overdrive pedal on the market. No questions about it. I've been looking for the perfect match of amp and OD pedal for years and years - amp ODs, while they sound amazing, just always lacked something to me, while pedals always sounded harsh and brittle or dark and muddy. Until one of my friends played a gig and I saw him use this pedal through his Fender Bassman Reissue. It sounded soo good, I had to try it out myself. I play a lot of different styles - blues, jazz, rock, even a little metal and shred. It leaves a little to be desired for metal playing, but in a pinch, it works. I'm still keeping it the rating at 5 stars, because this pedal was NOT designed for metal playing. However, for everything else, you get gorgeous, transparent tone, clean articulation, and a wide range of customization options to get your own tone. I've played this through VOX's, Fenders, a Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, a Marshall, and a couple Bogners - it sounds absolutely fantastic. I play live most of the time thought a Line 6 POD X3 Live, and it sounds amazing in front of that. Typical settings (based on AM/PM): Vol: 11a, Tone: 11a-1p, depending on the amp and venue, OD: 1p for main playing, about 9a-10a for cleaner, bluesier tones, and keep the boost cranked when I need it. If I need a little more drive than the boost can give off, I use a Keeley-modded DS-1 right after this pedal as more of a slightly dirty boost, and it kicks it up as far as I would ever need. Would I replace this product if stolen? In a heartbeat. I won't play anywhere without my Fulldrive. I can live without the Fulltone Fat Boost and the DS-1 and some other pedals I have, but not this one. This is a TONE MACHINE.

Bought this peddal based on numerous reviews & demos on YouTube. Got it home & plugged it up and the Comp Cut did not work at all. The drive was too much turned completely down with the volume at noon. The boost function only works with the drive channel engaged. It will not function as a stand alone boost. I found this pedal to be overrated at best. Its built like a tank, with quality components, but it did not live up to the hype for me. I was really disappointed in the boost function only working with the drive channel engaged. Even then the boost is not that great. I took it back the next day & ordered a Fat Boost. Hopefully that works better.

Versatile and Sounds Amazing

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have owned a few distortion/overdrive pedals in my day and this one is by far the best of them all. I bought this pedal for boosting my lead tone on an overdriven tube amp. This pedal not only does that, but has such a great sounding rhythm boost that I leave it on almost all the time. All of the settings sound great and are extremely versatile. It sounds great for Marshally type crunch from a humbucker guitar, and you can send a clean amp into a Stevie Ray Vaughn "Texas" style blues tone easily. I owned a Paul Cochrane Timmy and I like this pedal a lot more. If it were lost or stolen I'd definitely buy it again.

Tone magic

By Cody

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this pedal to push the green A channel on my '98 Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 head and I have to say this was one of the best investments I've ever made to any rig and I'll explain why. The clean/crunch channel on my head has a nice, big, round tone with lots of bottom end which I love. The lead channel simply does not. It's fairly tinny and harsh, lacking much of the bottom end and fullness channel A has. Unfortunately, channel A just doesn't have quite enough saturation and bite on its own to be my main distortion...I play a mix of rock, hard rock, and post hardcore. Simple solution, add an overdrive. But which one? The other guitarist in my band has a 60 watt TSL and uses a tube screamer so I considered that. It sounds ok but, no matter the setting, it tends to cut out the lower frequencies which would only add to my problem. I've found this to be the case with a lot of the Boss ODs as well. I read so many great reviews everywhere on the Full Drive 2 so I decided to give it a shot. WHEW! It instantly turned my amp into a roaring JCM 800, and what's better than that? If you have an already good or great sounding tube amp tone and want to take it to absolute perfection, this is THE pedal. It adds just the right amount of saturation, doesn't subtract any bass but rather enhances it, and it tightens up the overall loosey-gooseyness of the green channel of my amp. Adding the boost really adds a lot of harmonic richness, thickness, and sustain as well, perfect for those big choruses we write. This is an extremely versatile pedal as the different settings are really meant to accommodate different amps. I have mine set to CompCut, Mosfet, volume at 9 o'clock, tone at 3 o'clock, and overdrive at 5 o'clock with a slight boost when I need it and it just takes my amp to a whole other level. Can't say enough about this product, it's just phenomenal and I'm convinced I couldn't have possibly found a better overdrive pedal for my amp. HIGHLY recommend this to anybody!!

Fantastic!

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I own the non-Mosfet version of this pedal and I love it. I play modern/contemporary worship guitar and this pedal delivers that transparent overdrive tone worship guitarists are looking for. It has multiple clipping options which is very helpful and the boost works very well in all clipping modes. It also stacks very well with other distortions and holds its tone very well even before or after other effects like reverb, delays and octave generators. I just wish the boost side of the pedal could be used without turning the pedal on like the new Fulldrive 3 has, but I already purchased this pedal and a separate clean boost pedal before the FD3 came out.

I Will Never NOT Use One

By Garrett Thomas

from Rock Hill, SC

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a fantastic pedal, though I have to say the first stage overdrive can be a little weak. The solution to that? Play it with a full mix behind it--problem solved. Beautiful tone, I mainly use the CompCut and Boost for cleaner or "softer" stuff, but the Flat Mids mode and the boost are great for rock. Same with Vintage. I love this, and I will never NOT use one on my rig. As a warning: to put it on a pedalboard, you have to take off the little feet on the bottom so you can use Velcro--just remember, when you take it on and off, you can as a result of taking the feet off accidentally pull the upper housing off. It doesn't come off easily, like when you're playing, but I've noticed it can when I'm trying out different pedal setups. Still, this doesn't change my opinion of the pedal, you just have to use it right. Love it!

The Tone That Makes Everyone Else Jealous

By B K

from Connecticut

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have been searching for the perfect tone since I started playing guitar. Granted, it has only been a two year long journey (don't get me wrong though, I played hours upon hours daily up to this day, and I can hold my own in a session with older guitarists). Before this pedal, the only OD I'd used was a Ts9 that recently stopped working. Repair prices didn't seem worth it so I replaced it with this. I was blown away by the pedal's versatility. It is clear from the get go that this pedal was made for the blues. A strat in bridge+middle position plus this pedal = SRV. Throw the pickup selector to the neck and turn up the volume a bit, and you have that nice bluesy Hendrix crunch (NOT the Hendrix fuzz. I'm talking about his Hey Joe, Red House, Little Wing sounds). Turn the pickup selector to the Neck+Middle, and you INSTANTLY have John Mayer's tone. Obviously this is only some of the things can be done on a strat. I plugged in an SG at the store when I bought it, and played around with the knobs, and I found Page's tone. You can also get Cream's fuzzy tone on it, but thats a bit tougher. You'd be better off with something more like a Lovepedal Englishwoman for that. None of the artists I mentioned actually ever used this pedal (probably because it wasn't around during most of their times), which is a testament to how versatile it is. If you want something that can do absolutely everything, this is your pedal. Absolutely no regrets here

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just bought one of these yesterday, and it sounds awesome. I use it in my pedalboard as my 2nd Overdrive (first one is a Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde) but this is clearly one of the best overdrives in the market, and the price is accsesible.

Your sound starts here.

By adam sutkiewicz

Comments about Fulltone Fulldrive2 MOSFET Overdrive/Clean Boost Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is becoming the top of its class and is also becoming the industry leader in distortion. I know how it is being ultra-picky about a distortion sound, and this pedal is everything you could ask for. Prior to this pedal, I was using multiple distortions, (ibanez turbo tube screamer, boss overdrive os-2) amongst others. The dynamic range for the mosfet is an all in one package. Whether you want something beefy, light, vintage, whatever...this pedal does the trick. Not to mention, the additional overdrive stomp is a key component for hitting that climatic chorus for any song. I do however suggest that you get an 18volt power adapter for it. It brings it more clarity to the pedal. I heard some people who use a 9v through their pedal have problems with sound cutting out, once again an 18v is the trick for this pedal. Out of any pedal I've played, this is my number one recommendation to any guitar player of any caliber.
