Memphis, once an important cultural center in ancient Egypt, was also known as Ankh Tawy, "That which binds the Two Lands," making it a fitting name for an amplifier design that empowers musical expression and exemplifies stylistic diversity.
Class A, Hand Wired, Boutique Values. Buzz words that sound great often fall short of great performance. Fryette knows it takes passion, ingenuity and innovation to bring something new to the table.
What could possibly be new under the sun in a vacuum tube amplifier? Cross-pollination of music styles and cultural influences produces new forms of expression. The Fryette Memphis guitar amp pushes the conversation about the relationship between the player and the instrument to new heights.
The Fryette Memphis Thirty tube amp is an innovative blend of modern technology and time honored sonic values. Modern technology brings forth vastly improved component quality and reliability. Innovation enables extending and enhancing the power and behavior of classic tube circuits, giving a remarkably improved range of performance and versatility. If form truly follows function, the unique visual impression of the Memphis Thirty is a very good indication of the functionality and versatility one can expect to encounter in a Fryette amp.

I am getting older and its too damn much trouble to lug a 2-12 amp around anymore - so I started looking for a good sounding 1-12 tube combo amp. Fryette wasn't on my radar until I started doing some research on the internet. I found some great reviews on the Memphis 30 and played one at the Sherman Oaks GC platinum room in February 2011 and bought it immediately. I fell in love instantly with the variety of clean and overdrive tones this amp puts out. Two separate channels each with its own set off tonal options and the ability to switch between 18 and 30 watts. I could go from a Beatles-like Rickenbacker Power Pop sound to everything short of a full bore Metal sound. (Fryette makes a great amp for metal as well, this just isn't it). I have been playing music for 30 years and have never had an amp that is so sensitive to using the volume on the guitar or simply changing the tone controls. I also like the easy access to the pre-amp tubes and the ability to change those on the fly.
The only problem I have had with the amp has been problems with the power tubes that came with the amp. I called Fryette and was able to take the amp in and within an hour they had solved the problem by replacing the tubes and a capacitor that had died from the tube problem. Great guys to deal with and they care about the product they are putting out.
All in all, if you are looking for a great sounding boutique 1-12 tube combo amp, you can't go wrong with this amp at this price.
I have had this amp for around a month now and it is a jack of all trades. Good cleans and crazy gain for the dirty channel. Plenty of tonal options with 3 different voicings for both the clean and dirty channel. It comes with the channel/boost footpetal. I would recommend this amp to anyone looking for a boutique amp at a decent price.
