Overview

The Frontier Design Group's TranzPort Wireless DAW Remote provides a much freer, more flexible way to interact with your PC- or Mac-based digital audio workstation. Instead of being stuck in front of your computer to compose, record, and produce music/audio, TranzPort gives you the freedom to control DAW functions from anywhere in your studio or home.

TranzPort is easy to set up and use. Right out of the box, it's compatible with popular DAW software such as Pro Tools, Sonar, Logic, Cubase, Digital Performer, Ableton Live, and others. You can arm tracks, use transport controls, set markers, control pans, punch in/out, start loops, and more from TranzPort's simple and intuitive audio interface. TranzPort is a bi-directional controller, so it also provides feedback to you on signal levels, timecode position, track names and more, via a backlit LCD display and LED indicators.

Unlike infrared remotes, you don't need line-of-sight between the TranzPort and your computer. TranzPort uses high frequency radio waves (RF) to send and receive control data, and uses advanced coding and frequency-hopping techniques to operate without causing interference, even in the presence of other wireless devices.

Using TranzPort, you can¦
Adjust monitor mix settings from inside an iso booth, or easily record instruments that are physically incompatible with your workspace (piano, drums, etc.)
Get creative in an environment away from the computer (living room, lounge, etc.) without having to run back and forth to the workstation
Control your recording while physically removing yourself from unwanted computer noise and monitor hum
Add a set of basic DAW controls to a second location in a studio (producer's desk, separate room, etc.)
Remotely control your computer from onstage in live performance without messy cable runs

TranzPort is small and lightweight, runs on standard AA batteries, is mountable to a mic stand (using optional adaptor), and even has a footswitch input. As a very affordable alternative to keyboard/mouse DAW control, TranzPort offers control tools that will speed up your workflow.

Compatible with Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS X (10.2.8 and above), and requiring only one USB port for the small receiver, TranzPort is the remote Digital Audio Workstation control solution for everyone from personal/project studios to large commercial recording facilities.

What a great tool!

By John

from Chicago, IL

Install the software, add it as a control surface and away you go! What a great tool! Recording alone makes it difficult to manage everything. Now I can be in my soundbooth and record, play it back, mute and re-record - never leaving the booth. Worked as promised right out of the box. Product feels substantial and is intuitive to use. The optional mic stand mount might be my next purchase, as it would make this an even better setup.

Must Have

By KC-FfPLE

from Bluefield, WV

OK...Very skeptical at first. I have owned many musical wireless devices in the past and none seemed to measure up. I am very picky about new gear since I do not have a record deal. I don't get paid fat royalties so I cannot afford to waste a cent on crap equipment.I am always recording without someone else to run the software and I used to get plenty of exercise running back and forth between the computer and whatever I was playing at the time. I decided to roll the dice on this device. It arrives and within 10 minutes it was up and running controlling my Cubase sx3 software just like the manufacturer stated it would. Really no problems or glitches. Range is great. I was controlling easily from 35 feet away and this was not line of sight.I give this item all 10's except for value. I think the price is a little much but hey it is the only product on the market that performs this task so in retrospect I guess I should be thankful frontier only charges what it does for it. Right? In conclusion if you are sick of constantly running back and forth between your microphone, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and the computer front end then the tranzport is exactly what you need. I can't believe I did not buy it sooner...I can't imagine watching TV without a remote and now I can't imagine recording without the Tranzport.

Have no Fear

By tom-ExRTE

This works with pro tools. It goes 10 meters or 30 feet. No more. Just like it says on their website. If you need something like this--buy it. Smart buttons really well thought out. LOVE it. I typically am so disappointed with gadgets like this.

I was a little worried that the Tranzport wouldn't be worth the money, boy was I wrong! The first time I used it, I fell in love.Out of the box it's ready to go with its own usb receiver and batteries included. Installing the driver on my PC took almost no time and the directions were strait forward.I was using it the same day.I give it the highest marks for everything because there's nothing else like it on the market. There's no other tool that lets me record from my vocal booth! Alone! Without going in and out! This thing is going to save me hours upon hours of studio time!It has user defined commands, so you can add functionality to suit your demands, as well as the standard play, record, stop, track toggling, etc.If you're recording yourself and hate going back and forth from the computer to the booth, keyboard, guitar, etc., you MUST buy the Frontier Tranzport! And no, I do not work for Frontier.I just love this thing. The only way to make recording easier is to get another human to run the computer while you play or sing. The Tranzport is the cheapest studio assistant ever!Great features, built to last, extremely portable, a must have for the one man studio!

A Must Have!

By MichaelFla

from Homestead, Fl

Tranzport just made recording from behind my electronic drums so much easier!... How could I have survived without this? (I know how... with a 30 sec click track giving me enough time to run from in front of my PC to my drums, that's how!)... Got DAW? Get Tranzport!... There's really not much to say 'cept for the must-haveness of this product!

Great idea. Worked right away with my Pro Tools set up and I can roam all over the studio and it works in every room. The display is easy to read and has lots of info on it.
