Well I thought that this wall hanger would be a good one since Proline is a really good brand but when I drilled in the screws into the wall, they didn't reach the stud so I had to buy new screws because the original screws made my guitar collapse. I saved my guitar but I still had to get new screws.

The hanger works fine when properly installed, however that requires buying longer screws and attaching to a stud. I originally installed with the anchors, and it held the guitar however I could easily wiggle the hanger base with my hand and this would clearly not hold over time. I then attached the hanger to a stud using the enclosed 1.5 inch screws, but as soon as I hung the guitar it fell, the hanger partially attached to the wall. I ran to the store and got some 2 inch (#8) screws and with those the base is now safely attached to the wall. I now have my guitar securely hanging up with two noticeable anchor holes nearby that i need to fill or cover. :-) To easily find a stud, look for nails in the baseboard, also wall outlets will have a stud on one side.

It is a good product. I tried to hang my heaviest bass (12 lbs) and it holds but i felt like it was gonna fall so i put it on a floor stand, but other than that i bought one to hold my banjo, ukuleles, and guitars. It holds those gracefully

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

This thing was terrible to setup. I had to get help from someone who specializes in such things. You'd think all it takes is a screw driver or maybe a drill, a stool (for higher areas) to set up.I spent hours on it, and the directions on the back are useless to non-construction workers. Now it may be user/consumer error, but it certainly angered me more than anything has all month. I'd rather restring five floyd rose bridges than set it up. Aside from things that may be my fault, the unit is great once it's setup. It does exactly what it's supposed to.

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

These are decent hangers, except the manufacturer cheaped out and included screws that are literally too short to get through sheetrock and into the studs behind it. So, you'll also need to go to a hardware store and buy screws to make it work. This is very inconvenient, and there's just no excuse. 1/2" longer screws would have done everything needed.

Have ordered a ton of these and they all are great. Except whenever I installed them the screws would strip out. So I always replace them with new ones.
                Other than that they're great.

Works as it should. Rest actually pivots slightly to allow guitars with all head shapes to hang properly. The included screws are a bit short if you want to go through your drywall and into a stud behind it - I used longer and thicker wood screws instead for this (#6 x 2.5" I think they were). The included screws and anchors appear to be fine for drywall-only installations without hitting a stud. I've only tried it with electrics, but it likely could hold a thin bodied acoustic as well.
