The hanger works fine when properly installed, however that requires buying longer screws and attaching to a stud. I originally installed with the anchors, and it held the guitar however I could easily wiggle the hanger base with my hand and this would clearly not hold over time. I then attached the hanger to a stud using the enclosed 1.5 inch screws, but as soon as I hung the guitar it fell, the hanger partially attached to the wall. I ran to the store and got some 2 inch (#8) screws and with those the base is now safely attached to the wall. I now have my guitar securely hanging up with two noticeable anchor holes nearby that i need to fill or cover. :-) To easily find a stud, look for nails in the baseboard, also wall outlets will have a stud on one side.

Wow

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

I am amazed by this wall hanger. I wasn't too sure of wall hangers at first; I was afraid my guitar would drop, but it definintly won't with this hanger. It is easy to put in, I put it in after 2 minutes. For any guitar hanger you will need a drill to get it in all the way, though. I am not giving everything a '5' because it only supports 10 lbs. (My guitar's a little heavier; 12 lbs. to be exact) Just don't push the weight too far. The best buy for wall hangers.

Needs Longer Screws...

By Numma Tucson

from New England

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

The ProLine GH1 Guitar hanger does not impress me as signifcantly better or worse than any others on the market. It mounts easily and protects the neck of your instrument as it hangs - just as you want and expect. However, if you are concerned about the security of the hanger, you want to ensure that the mounting screws bite into a stud. The enclosed screws are just barely long enough to clear the drywall and bite about 1/2" of wood - not enough to have made me comfortable. I grabbed some 1 1/2" #6 woodscrews and mounted the hanger directly into the stud. One advantage is that the mounting screw holes are top and bottom, not left and right, so you can get both screws solidly into the stud. That being done, I have no worries!

a little faulty

By avlisk

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

This does its job, I have 2. However, one of them didn't assemble due to poor manufacturing tolerances. If you have a Dremel or proper files, you can file the metal down so it will fit together. Once done it performs very well for both my acoustic and my Epi LP.

Be careful!

By Spencer

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

I got this and hung an autographed guitar I have on it and it stays on the hook for weeks/months at a time.Recently I got it down to play and noticed it rubbed black scuff marks on my guitars unfinished headstock that as of now,I have been unable to remove.I put a cloth between the guitar and hook and it seemes to be keeping it from getting any worse.Overall,Its a fantastic hook that will hold any guitar or bass, but be careful if your instrument has an unfinished or white neck.My experience may have been a fluke but you nenver know....

          Screws not long enough...

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

This hanger is pretty good, it is very strong on the holder and it protects the neck very well, but the screws that come with it are not long enough to reach the studs, my walls are 5/8in. drywall and it wouldn't reach the stud. just use longer screws...
