I bought these when they were two for $10 on Black Friday. I should have bought more of them. The other reviewers say the screws are too short and they are, however all that is necessary is a course thread drywall screw that is 2 1/4" or longer to secure these properly depending on whether you are using the anchors or not. 2 1/4" should be long enough for both purposes. I fastened mine right into studs with 2 3/4" screws because I happen to have a full box of that length, but I do carpentry work so having plenty of screws around my shop wasn't an issue. I really like them and if you fasten them directly to studs that should give ample separation to your guitars if your studs are 16" center as they should be.

The product itself is good and once it is properly anchored it holds well. However, the cheap anchors that we supplied do not hold the weight of a stratocaster or telecaster. Both of which started to pull out of the wall within a day. I since put in better anchors and they now hold the guitars fine. This product is rated for 10 pounds. The strat and tele are both around 8 pounds, so this should be fine. For an additional $.05 they could have had good anchors. Opted for cheap. This is the Guitar Center way: never opt for quality when cheap stuff is available.
If I ever needed to hang my guitars again I would not use their materials other than the hooks.
When will I learn my lesson that GC is worthless? I hope now.

Cheap plastic and short screws

By Robert

from Urbandale, Iowa

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

Purchased on sale, 2 for $10.00, now 2 for $24.00, which initiates my first problem with this product as they are only worth $5.00 each. Increased investment is highway robbery as the hanger is composed of cheap plastic and the screws are too short. You must buy new screws before correct installation. I worry that over time the plastic will weaken, resulting in failure, allowing my bass guitar to fall to the floor. Buy wood, not plastic.

Screws too short

By Marcus Martin

from Rexas

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

I purchased 2 of these 2-packs when they were on sale. They are reasonably well made for the price. The base blocks are plastic (maple color) as are the tubes. The yokes are chrome plated steel and the foam padding/security rings are adequate. The only problem I had was with the mounting screws being too short to grab the anchors adequately. The anchors themselves seem adequate. It's just sort of a pain to have to make an extra trip to Home Depot to get screws long enough to do the job. If only they had included screws 1/2-3/4" longer.

    Good Starting Point

    By Art Ycedo

    from Rancho Belago California

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

I also pick up 2 sets when they were on sale. Went with the light color and after reading they were made of plastic I did a closer look. No the base is wood. This was good because I planed to disassemble them; other parts are made of metal and plastics. I?m good with wood work so I fabricated a very decorative board to mound 3 hangers and smaller bracket for a single hanger. The original mounting hardware is to short if you plan to go through your walls sheet-rock and reach a stud. But in my case the decorative mount I made is mounted to the wall studs and the hangers are secured to it directly less the wood mount they originally had. The end result was inexpensive mounts accentuates the beauty of the guitars hanging on them. The things you learn after watching PBS do it yourself shows are simply amazing.

Does what it should and priced right when 'on sale'.

Comments about GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

I've seen some complaints about the screws being too short on these hangers and depending on the wall material they're installed on, they may be a little too short. But, since I got them on sale and have plenty of screws in my garage, that was not a problem for me. Other than that, I like the product just fine. Have used them for several years without any real problems.

    Eh, get whatcha pay for...

    By A-Jay DiGirolamo

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

These leave a lot to be desired... I got the StringSwing ones before & those were GREAT! I figured these were "on sale" Well, first off they're Plastic. Not wood, plastic! I wouldn't put a Bass on this. Nor would I put a good guitar. If you need a cheap wall hanger for your JCPenny special, these are PERFECT for you. If you have a Fender Custom Bass, I'd get the StringSwings...

FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack) Natural

    By GREGORY IRISH

    from Matawan, NJ

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

I was surprised at how easy these were to install and they held both my wife's 3/4 acoustic guitar and my Washburn Strat. I gave it only four stars because one of the self tapping anchors snapped at the tip (the drilling part) but I poked a hole in the wall and then the anchor screwed in fine. Otherwise I now have two guitars hanging on the wall of my home office/music studio and not on stands on the floor. I would suggest these to anyone else looking to display their guitars. Just remember, they are only rated for 10 lbs or less.

The sale price is all they should charge in the first place. It doesn't cost that to make and ship these. They move fast. They are only worth five dollars.

    These are very good.

    By Gary Peters

    from Canden, Ohio

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger (2-Pack):

I ordered these even after reading the 3 reviews that had so miss leading info. They are not plastic, they are wood for the base, heavy metal and good padding. And complaining about screws. They come with very nice screws and drywall anchors for that application. If you are going into studs then you will need some longer drywall screws. Most musicians probably have these around somewhere or make a trip to the hardware store and get what you need. I think the price is a bit high but I bought 3 sets when they were on sale and very good service. Don't be afraid to use these, they are first rate.
