I've been a Leslie West fan since Mississippi Queen was a new release. His album "The Great Fatsby" solidified him as one of my top 3 influences as a guitar player. Since that time, his influence has only gotten bigger. This video brings it all to the forefront. And he does it in his own way. When he talks about a certain element of his style playing he goes deeper than "how to play it". He tells you "why" he does things a certain way. From his three finger technique to getting 12 different notes out of a single note to making his guitar sound like 3 guitars. And he names HIS influences as well. Interspersed throughout are interviews with Satch and Wilde (who gives a hysterical improvised performance as West's son). As far as DVD prices go it might seem a bit high to some, relatively speaking. But being a dyed in the wool West fan I even paid extra for next day shipping. It was totally worth it, and then some. I can't recommend this DVD enough. I've had it over a week and I've watched it at least 4 times. And if I wear it out I'll just buy another one. Yep, it's that good.
This is a very interesting and entertaining DVD on how Leslie West approaches music and guitar playing. I was quite surprised at the ability Leslie West possesses in playing the electric guitar. I think anybody that plays a guitar, regardless of their musical preference, could probably learn something from viewing this DVD.I wish that I had paid more attention to Leslie West earlier on but this DVD speaks volumes....
