  • Perfect for simple recording needs

As reviewed by don't_go_on_me on 11/1/2006

I use my Fostex MR-8 for simple home recordings. Whether it's just laying down random riffs or ideas or laying down an entire demo with guitars, bass and vocals this recorder is all I need. I haven't tried recording drums with it so I have no idea how well it would come across. The built-in effects aren't anything that I've ever used, they're pretty average. If you're going to be doing a lot of multi-track recording you'll want a larger CompactFlash card as the 128 mbs sometimes runs out before I'm finished with a song. The recorder's menus are extremely easy to navigate after thumbing through the manual for a few minutes. The built-in mic is handy for recording on the fly, although as expected sound quality becomes an issue when not using an actually line-in microphone. Great home recording at an affordable price.

  • Easy recording for the techno challenged

As reviewed by Daversatek on 8/30/2006

This machine is an EXCELLENT entry-level unit. It is not complicated to use in the least, all pertinent controls are on top, the display is easy to read and navigation is very simple. Don't let the manual scare you, once you spend a little time with it, you'll see how easy it really is to use this and get your ideas recorded. The ability to connect direct to a PC makes it a snap to transfer, edit and burn your music to a CD. If you have ever thought you would like to record to a multitrack device, but felt they were just too complicated...think again!

  • Awesome Recorder

As reviewed by Tokyo KiDD on 3/12/2009

At first i was having hard time recording on computer, so i decided to pick this up, it took me a good couple recordings to get the sounds and adjusting my levels on my mix boards and other sound effects, this equipment can make your songs sounds just like you in a real studio, it took me good month to figure my settings, after that its a piece of cake, i would recommend this if u on a tight budget, you just gotta make sound great, my friends love the way how it records, what else can i say? i love this lil machine, im thinkin up grade for a 16 tracks for my productions.
