Overview

With the Scarlett Solo USB audio interface, your recordings will sound just how you want them to. Plug straight in to record your guitar and vocal simultaneously on independent channels so they can be mixed separately. The super-low latency* brings confidence to your performance, letting you record and monitor with software effects in real time. Connect your headphones and home speakers or studio monitors, turn up the volume and totally immerse yourself in sound.

New Generation - Better in Every Way
The second generation Scarlett range is packed full of upgrades. New super-low latency* brings confidence to your performance, letting you record and monitor with software effects in real time. New metal gain controls and a sleeker red metal chassis underscore its improved industrial design, built to go anywhere. The Scarlett range also now operates at sample rates all the way up to 192kHz. The input channels have evolved too. The latest Scarlett mic preamp features a more even gain structure, so you can accurately set your levels, and the instrument input has also been completely redesigned so it can handle seriously hot guitar pick-ups. Finally, Focusrite have provided analog protection circuitry across both the inputs and the outputs, to guard your interface against unwanted power surges.

Ready to Record Anywhere
Compact and portable enough to take anywhere, you won't even need a power supply; Scarlett Solo is connected and powered by a single USB cable. It also comes with the software and effects you need to start recording; an exclusive version of Pro Tools | First Focusrite Creative Pack (featuring 12 additional plug-ins including the Eleven Lite for real life guitar amp emulations), Ableton Live Lite, the Softube Time and Tone Bundle, Focusrite's Red Plug-In Suite, 2GB of Loopmasters samples and more.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface:

It's a neat product, but the software cannot be downloaded since the website has crashed and no effort is being made to fix it! I will be returning and purchasing something that preferably works.

It's a great interface. Be aware that if you're going to use it with the Shure SM7B, you need a Cloudlifter!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface:

This has got to be my favorite piece of gear in the world. I don't often go write reviews unless I have a problem with something, but I felt I needed to give a standing ovation to the folks over at Focusrite for this one. This thing handles low end like a champ, and is as clear as a bell. If you choose not to use Ableton as your main DAW, you may experience some difficulty getting everything going for the first time, but a couple minutes of tinkering will get you on your feet and it will be 100% worth your time. I've used some of the larger Scarlett interfaces in the past, and there is literally no difference in quality of sound between this and some of the larger, more expensive models. I recommend this interface a thousand times over.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface:

I got this for my portable studio setup for the road away from my home studio. Took me a while to find USB 3.0 drivers for this. The focusrite website doesn't exact;y make it easy to find. You have to Google "scarlett solo 2nd gen USB 3.0 driver" and download the Focusrite USB ASIO driver. In any case, once I got it working, it sounded pretty good with Samplitude and Guitar Rig. It's nice that it has 48v phantom power for mics and a dedicated instrument input, plus line outputs for connecting to monitors or whatever. No MIDI in/out, but that's ok. Controls feel pretty solid and the case is pretty attractive. I'd say this is a bargain given the sound quality and price point.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface:

I was looking for an affordable audio interface that'd work as an external sound card and this does the trick. It may take a little troubleshooting (as it did for me) getting it to work with whatever DAW you're using, but once you download the driver and get the audio preferences just right in your software it's good to go. I spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out why it was only recording one side, not stereo, so when I played back it only play on my right headphone. Each input, the mic and guitar line, are a separate track in the stereo mix so you have to specify on the track your recording that you want to record mono on either/or. Once I figured that out, I realized you could also set up 2 tracks in your DAW, one to record the mic and one the guitar line, so you can record 2 separate tracks at the same time, kind of cool. I currently use Sonar X3, Reason and FL Studio. Before I couldn't switch between programs very easily without my sound card pooping out, but the Scarlett allows me to work simultaneously between programs flawlessly.
