Like the other members of the Scarlett range of USB 2.0 computer audio interfaces, Scarlett 6i6 brings you the best of Focusrite’s interface design, proving that at Focusrite, sound really is everything, with precision analogue/digital conversion and, in the case of the 6i6, two Focusrite microphone preamps, custom-designed for our computer interface range, that bring a new level of clarity and sound to all your work. 6i6 is a 6 in / 6 out audio interface that delivers superb quality recordings from microphones and instruments, straight into your Macintosh® or Windows® computer or iPad® (Apple Camera Connection Kit required with iPad). And, with the new Red 2 and Red 3 AAX plugins (included), it’s perfect for use with Pro Tools®.

Focusrite: 30 years of all-round audio excellence
Focusrite was founded by Rupert Neve in 1985 to create the highest quality mic preamps for Sir George Martin’s AIR Studios. Those classic, internationally-acclaimed designs have informed all Focusrite mic pre designs created over the past 30 years. The mic pres included in Scarlett interfaces were designed specifically for the purpose, combining the best of our heritage design experience with the latest components and technologies for the most transparent, effective path in and out of your computer. Alongside the preamps is Focusrite’s acclaimed precision digital conversion, ensuring you get the very best recording and replay. Our careful selection of components and equally careful circuit design plus the performance benefits of multi-layer boards ensure that you get superior low noise and low distortion.

Perfect for producers and bands
Scarlett 6i6 is perfect for producers, recording artists or small bands. With dual Focusrite mic preamps and a stereo line input – and a stereo S/PDIF input for digital sources – 6i6 is great for recording vocals, guitar and keyboards simultaneously. The four balanced outputs support up to two sets of stereo monitors, while two built-in headphone outputs with separate volume controls allow multiple recording artists to listen to the mixes they need to get the best performance – all with the lowest latency in the business. The inputs and outputs feature precision 24-bit Focusrite conversion at up to 96 kHz in order to get the most accurate signal possible into and out of your computer.

Hardware features
The outer case is a tough aluminium extrusion, which protects the components inside and minimises electrical noise. There is a large main monitor control knob alongside dedicated gain knobs for each mic input, each with two-colour ‘gain halos’ which light up green to indicate that sound is detected, and red if the level is too high. Both mic inputs can be switched between instrument, line and microphone, and a pad can be switched-in to handle high-level inputs.

Included software
Scarlett 6i6 supports both Windows and Macintosh computers as well as the iPad (using an Apple camera Connection Kit - available separately from Apple) and comes with a bundle of included software. Scarlett MixControl is a software I/O routing control panel, also allowing access to additional hardware features. 6i6 also comes with Ableton Live Lite: revolutionary production and performance software that records and plays back audio in a totally unique way. The Scarlett Plug-in Suite is also included, supplying EQ, compression and reverb to professionalize your mixes.

Note: Includes the Focusrite Red 2 and Red 3 Plug-In Suite (AAX/AU/VST) upon registration of interface. Accurately modeled on the classic Red 2 EQ and Red 3 Compressor, the Red plug-ins let you exploit the sound of the hardware originals, conveniently from within Pro Tools (10 and above) and other audio software.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I bought this unit to replace my previous interface that decided to take a dive. It comes with lots of free content, however the driver and the mix software(which is great and easy to use) that is shipped with it is outdated. Never fear, registering your product on is simple and painless if you can follow simple instruction. I was registered in 5 minutes, with the most up to date software and driver. Do NOT listen to the other review that is dogging this product. Focusrite has outstanding pre's and they have been put to use since I bought this and sound great. You will NOT regret purchasing this.

VERY unstable using W7

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I have a laptop tweaked perfectly for audio, it is W7 with an i7 and 16gb Ram. It runs my MOTU microbook interface flawlessly. I needed an SPDIF input so I got the 6i6. This interface has TONS of trouble, clicks, pops, fuzz and terrible support. Focusrite Support gave me a list a mile long of tests to run, all of which my computer passed. Then I asked for a replacement unit and they went silent. Booooo Focusite.

Best interface for under 300

By Nathan

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I walked in to guitar center looking to upgrade from my 2i2 because It's more for musicians on the road, on a budget or just in need of something cheap to power monitors, I needed more ins and outs for hardware like my ISA one, electronic drum kit and Roland Jupiter 50, There were a lot of nice audio interfaces but there was no contest for something in this price range, I had purchased and went home, when I had taken it out of the box it was small yet rugged and sturdy, the red finish is beautiful and feels nice, the knobs turn smoothly and feel well built and not flimsy at all, I had hooked everything up successfully and after a month still no issues and runs smoothly, there is not one complaint from me about the hardware but the mixcontrol software can be a pain to learn at first but other then that I highly recommend this, you will not be sorry.

Nice Features but Unreliable

By Steven

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

This interface began to require frequent power cycles after a couple months of use. It would work fine, than show no signal on any inputs until a hard power off/power on cycle. After 13 months of use, it has failed completely.

Quirky with Windows 8.1 and Abelton Live 9

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I first purchased a 2i4 and ordered a 6i6 because our local Guitar Center didn't stock the 6i6.
The 2i4 worked for several hours with Abelton Live. Then Abelton stopped working and when Abelton was restarted, a connection to the 2i4 could not be established. After a Chat with Focusrite support the determination was it must have died so I returned it and got the 6i6.
The 6i6 exhibited the same behavior in that it connected initially, and then I could no longer connect to it or even see it in Device Manager > Sound settings after Abelton Live had some kind problem and quit running. I eventually cycled power on the 6i6 and the connection returned. The 6i6 with Abelton has not run for even a day, so the word is still out on whether this setup will work for live performance. I plan to do as much testing as possible so I learn the limitations before I feel I can risk taking this setup on a live gig.
I'm not ready to blame the Focusrite Saffire 6i6 completely since this seems to be related to Abelton Live as well, however it seems that the driver for the 6i6 could benefit from some improvements to handle abnormal situations like this, as it took me many hours over the last 2 weeks to get this going. It is working at the moment.

At this point I could not yet recommend this for a Windows 8.1 PC setup using Abelton Live 9.2 or 9.6.

Product Improvement Suggestion: I'd like to see the size of these things reduced even more and the 1/4" jacks to be all metal (they are plastic and looks less then professional and potentially problematic). More indicator lights would be helpful especially if signal is going out of the outputs.

Likes: 1/4" jacks with balanced outputs. 2 headphone outputs. Nice sound. MIDI I/O. Looks like a nice setup for live performance. Separately powered so I don't have to worry about overloading my USB ports.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I use this specific product for home studio use. I had had the M-Audio products in the past however the Focusrite products are far more sturdy and sound better. It immediately recognized my El Capitan operating system with Mac and away we go! The additional software was free and this fits well with Logic Pro. I don't know whether a couple of the reviews prior to mine just got lemons or what? This is a killer product, is flexible to use and sounds great. Guitar Center Roseville Michigan AGAIN was excellent to deal with and I'm very satisfied. I'd buy this product again and again, so hope this helps.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Audio Interface:

I do not recommend this product for Windows 7 constant pops and cracks. Very unstable. Crashes all of the time. I have a very good audio computer and I couldn't keep this thing running.

My only suggestion to Focusrite would be actual buttons for mic/line and pad operation. Instead of the software only choice for changing these settings.
