Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

The OctoPre is really nice just what I was looking for multiple mics. The only problem I had was getting it to record on Pro Tools ( my chain Octo - Apollo - Pro tools) I didn't really understand it was a ADAT signal so inputs on Pro tools have to be set for ADAT. Once It was all set up corectly everything was fine, and the optical cable to the Apollo Twin is just simple and convenient. I would suggest spending the money on a good quality Optical cable ( live wire) I had a cheap one it pulled out to easy.

Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

I purchased this to add more inputs to my UAD Apollo. Works PERFECTLY! This will allow you to use the Apollo's effects on the console, the advantage being able to use the UAD effects on all the extra inputs in real time! This is my first "ADAT" experience - I've never connected devices via lightpipe before until now. It was easy - I highly recommend this for the Apollo Twin users out there.

Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

I picked this up to add 8 additional preamps to my Saffire Pro 40. One cable and some software clicks later.. I have 16 very clean and full of life recording channels. Skip the dynamic version and get this. Compress and EQ in the box. Focusrite is Pro throughout, so you will be very happy with this Octopre MkII.

Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

I originally bought the Focusrite Liquid 56 and had linked it up to a Digimax D8, which worked...sometimes...with Pro Tools 10 on my Mac. Unfortunately I seemed to keep struggling with the two interfaces syncing properly and me having a hassle free recording session. I made the decision to match the two brands in hopes that I could just start up Pro Tools and go without fiddling with settings every time so I bought the Octo Pre. Took me less than an hour to get everything locked up, Pro Tools up and running and sounds going through both interfaces. Not to mention I now have pads and 48v for more channels. Very excited about this setup and here we are over a week later and still just starting up Pro Tools and going to town!!!

Great Sound - Can Be Used With Existing Interface or Independently

      By Adam Lansky

      from Little Rock, AR

Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

The Focusrite OctoPre is more than an I/O expansion -- it can also be used as a stand-alone set of 8 quality mic preamps in a single rack unit! If you are looking to expand your existing system, this device will provide smooth, musical tone & good quality A/D conversion. The microphone preamp is arguably the most important stage in the signal chain & Focusrite delivers quality at a reasonable price. If you already own the Saffire Pro 40, connecting these devices is very simple & yields a perfectly consistent sound between microphones. All you'll need is an ADAT cable connected from the OctoPre's "OPTICAL OUT" jack going into the "OPTICAL IN" of the Pro 40. Within the Saffire MixControl Software, change the "SYNC SOURCE" from "Internal" to "ADAT" & voila! You've just added eight more channels of awesome.

      Smooth, yet clear.

      By Christopher Lohr

Comments about Focusrite OctoPre MkII 8-Channel Mic Preamp:

I run this currently through my Mackie Onyx Blackbird at 96/24 for most situations. The two work together flawlessly with the use of an external word clock. I like the Focusrite for its smooth character that doesn't drop any high or low frequencies and still giving a great mid-range sound. Within a second or so it picks up the word clock and remains stable and synced.
