Taking its name from the original Focusrite console that embodied all the fundamental elements of the renowned Focusrite sound, Forte is a portable professional USB audio interface with two inputs and four outputs, housed in a compact, elegant and sturdy aluminum case.

Forte has been designed specifically to provide a compact, rugged and effective input path to your computer with the maximum possible audio quality for mic, line and instrument sources. In particular, Forte delivers class-leading dynamic range and noise floor - both highly significant in today's world of an almost unlimited number of tracks making up a mix - and class-leading conversion performance, ensuring you get the very best quality sound at all times.

Featuring two of the latest design of Focusrite NetPre remote-controlled microphone preamplifiers, as used in Focusrite's flagship RedNet range, Forte connects to both Mac and Windows computers via USB 2.0. It incorporates highest-quality precision 24-bit A-D and D-A converters operating at sample rates up to 192kHz, and the conversion stages have had maximum attention paid to both analogue and digital design to deliver the best possible performance.

Forte includes a color OLED (Organic LED) display to indicate mic, line in, line out and headphone levels, gain structure and other functionality. It features a single, large, smoothly-rotating control knob operated in conjunction with a series of touch-sensitive icons to access preamplifier and output functions - input, monitor, headphone, and control - plus the ability to control DAW functions and act as a remote control for your music software.

In addition to providing the highest quality input preamps and signal path, particular attention has been paid to ergonomic design. A breakout cable with locking connector is used for microphone (XLR) and line/instrument (TRS) inputs, but balanced line and independent headphone outputs are provided on the unit itself, so the breakout cable is not required for playback-only applications. In addition, the fact that the mic and line-level inputs on the breakout cable are separate means that you can keep your inputs connected all the time without having to re-patch when you go from one to the other.

The elegant aluminum case includes non-slip strips on the base to ensure that it is always stable during operation. An external power supply is included with the unit, but this is only necessary if Phantom Power operation is required: otherwise Forte operates solely on bus power.

Included with the unit is Forte Control software application, which allows the configuration of low-latency monitoring, mic pre level adjustment and other features. Also in the box is the classic Focusrite Midnight plugin suite, accurately modeling the classic ISA110 EQ and ISA130 compressor.

Note: Includes the Focusrite Red 2 and Red 3 Plug-In Suite (AAX/AU/VST) upon registration of interface. Accurately modeled on the classic Red 2 EQ and Red 3 Compressor, the Red plug-ins let you exploit the sound of the hardware originals, conveniently from within Pro Tools (10 and above) and other audio software.

True Rock Star

By Jeff Leva

from Dallas Texas

Comments about Focusrite Forte USB Audio Interface:

I just wanted to say that I love my Forte and couldn't be happier with my selection! It wins a 10 with its looks alone and solid feel. The steel case is so cool as well as the entire cosmetics that make up the Forte. As for function, what can I say other than the Forte far exceeded my expectations. For recording and using as my sound card on play back with my MIDI controller I am experiencing the best sound quality for sure! The quality of recording is nothing less than true professional quality! It was a bit of a surprise that something designed to be portable could deliver such a solid and stunning recording but hey who doesn't enjoy a pleasant surprise once and a while!

Apogee Duet 2- Great.... Focusrite Forte - BETTER!!!!

from San Antonio Texas

Comments about Focusrite Forte USB Audio Interface:

I'm a songrwiter thats experimented with a load inerfaces looking for that one that has the most capability to put your recordings on the level of the pros. Before owning the focusrite, I owned the apogee duet 2.That thing sick!!! The pre amps are noticably very high quality, and the converters are truly class leading... It was the best on the market for under a 1,000 bucks. That is until the Forte came out. The pre amps are SLIGHTLY but noticably clearer and silkier. The convertors are slightly cleaner. And the hardwarde functions and capability just shoots it straight to the top. Seriously Highly recommend to the novice or pro!!!

Comments about Focusrite Forte USB Audio Interface:

This is a fantastic interface. Do yourself a favor and get this. The preamps are awesome, the interface is nice, and the design seems space aged. All in all a really great box. Can't think of any bad comments. Some people will suggests the duet but ultimately I don't think its a night and day difference but that imo.

Comments about Focusrite Forte USB Audio Interface:

Its hard not to walk in a Recording studio studio today without a Focusrite rack in the bunch as they are known for their famed pre-amps. The Audio Quality of this interface compared to my old Edirol UA-25EX is Night and Day. I can hear things in my mixes that I never heard before. The Forte is essentially a miniature RedNet as the Forte uses the same components found in Focusrite Top of the Line very high end RedNet Ethernet range. Same Micpres and Circus Logic converters. The only thing is different is how it connects to your computer. This interface directly competes with Apogee and RME. My only issues is the drivers are a little flaky but doesn't get in the way of getting the job done so still give it a 5 starts as they improve the drivers by software updates.
