These are obviously titanium parts. I bought a few sets. I hear very little difference between the titanium studs/inserts and the regular ones. They were bought more for durability, as the newer regular studs/inserts show wear much quicker. Obviously time will tell how long these titanium parts will last. For quality and reliability, the inserts are not the same 10.3 MM diameter as the regular studs. They are 9.0 MM. FR has not shared that, so please take note. Plan your project accordingly. They said they may offer them in 10.3 MM as 'an option'. I did test fit the actual titanium machine screw in a few genuine FR inserts as well as some regular machines screws in the titanium inserts and all fit fine. So I wouldn't have to plug and re-drill for the 9.0 MM diameter, I used the original inserts and just used the titanium machine screws. Although I was diligent in a test fitting, one titanium screw went in fine and the other titanium screw seized up. When I went to back it out, using a regular allen wrench that came with a FR unit, the socket in the top of the titanium screw stripped out. This made the titanium screw and the original insert useless. I did try to have the titanium screw removed in a shop, but I was disappointed to see how quickly the titanium was severely marred and badly defaced. FR does not clearly state the grade of titanium used, so now I'm curious. For look & feel, they feel like metal parts. ;-) The look is different from the photo provided to GC. FR has updated their photo. I have provided a photo to be of assistance. The top of the screw has been treated with something that makes it look black, which was an issue for me as I was planning on using them with chrome parts. Guitar players can be picky about things like that. They are not bad. Just not what I expected. It is my opinion that there is little tonal improvement. I was hoping for more durability, but once again, I think it will be a matter of time to determine. My hope in this review is to simply share some opportunities so that future customers can be as best informed as possible and not fall to some of the same issues that I've seen with this product.
