A great attempt to break outside the box
As with Red Hot Chili Peppers hyperactive bass player, his instruments deliver quite a show as well.
Although skeptical about trying it out, this bass sounds quite unique. A single back pickup, while limited with tone options, provides a raw punch sound, ideal for slap bass, along with a general pluck, perfect for anything else. Price wise, this bass could use some work. The sound mimics somewhat, of the Ernie Ball Stringray series.
The range of colors, and the design, isn't new, but it is a great refreshment into the bass community. It provides a younger generation with a nice option for an intermediate bass, which sadly, is mostly limited to Ibanez, and the likes of mid priced bass guitars. It is nice to see something new, especially by one of the great bass legends of our time.
All in all, this bass is worth trying out. I ran it through a 100 watt Ampeg in the music store I extensively shop at, and it sounded very nice with the tone options from the bass itself, let alone the variations from the Ampeg. Give this instrument a nice run, it's worth the time. The price may be a little bit more then what I think it's worth, however, that's your call to make.

Everything I Hoped For
I got the Blue and Orange (Water Bass) and I must say, the finish is beautiful. The bass itself is pretty audible, and the pickups are passive! The tones are limited on the bass, but the sound goes from bass to treble with one turn of the knob. I got 45-105 GHS bass boomers to go with it, and it sounds incredible. It has a light weight, too. The only thing I dislike is the amp noise it makes when the amp volume is up and the treble is on your bass. It has a cheap price and I would reccomend it.

The Best I've Ever Had
I was at first skeptical to buy this because I hadn't played it in person before buying but thought to myself, "Flea made this bass". This bass is everything I was expecting. I bought the sunny bass (orange and yellow) and it looks B.A. It's very light weight which is GREAT.. The tone is unreal, the neck is nice and small so you can move VERY nicely and VERY fast on it. Obviously the perfect bass for slap. the pickup is in perfect position and the strings are placed perfectly in distance from eachother. This bass is just straight up set up perfectly. The best bass I have ever had, over a Geddy Lee and a Sterling by Music Man.

A Great Bass All Around
Flea made this bass! Need I say more? This is a great intermediate bass, even though it sounds like a professional model. The single soapbar pickup makes the bass sound very similar to Flea's signature Modulus bass. The neck is nick and thick and the body is nice heavier weight. The bass can easily support any genre and style (finger-pick, pick, slap, tapping). In short, if you choose to purchase this bass, you will not be disappointed!
