Designed for the singer/songwriter, the SA220 Solo Performance System is a powerful, yet lightweight, system-providing exceptional sound quality and coverage in a wide variety of venues. 220 watts of clean, lightweight power drive a line array of six custom high-excursion speakers and a soft-dome tweeter. This unique combination delivers incredibly full sound, ultra-wide dispersion, and deeper sonic penetration than the common speaker cabinet. Better yet, the enhanced bass response of the custom-designed speakers means there's no need for a subwoofer.

With the SA220 system, the performer and audience hear exactly the same sound, meaning there's no need for separate wedge monitors or a combo amp backline. The SA220 is voiced for the singer/songwriter, acoustic instruments and vocals are projected with superb depth and clarity.

The ultimate in portability

The SA220 weighs only 25 lb., ships complete with a padded bag equipped with wheels, and includes a rugged speaker stand. Set up takes less than a minute, with only one trip to the car. Plus full-digital universal power means that its amplification system is ready to travel anywhere in the world (compatible with international power systems).

Features that performing musicians demand

Fishman didn't make the SA220 this portable by scaling back on features or tone. It's also equipped with two mic/instrument channels featuring high-quality preamps, each with 3-band EQ, phantom power, built-in reverb, effects loop, and feedback-fighting notch filter, and phase controls. In fact, Fishman included all of the prized elements of the Loudbox family amps and added a unique monitor feature designed to revolutionize an acoustic duo's ability to hear each other on stage.

We purchased the fishman for my daughter's graduation gift. She wanted a car, we thought this was better. We were right! She has done 2 outdoor events with it so far. It's sound is amazing! I have no idea how it puts out so much high quality sound from such a little package. Each event had around 200 people spaced back around 100 feet fromt the unit. The sound from the back was still full and wide. Can't praise this unit enough at this point.

Avoid getting this solo Pa system! You will waste your money. I am a musician that plays about 4 - 6 shows a week. Each show being about 2 - 4hour sets. I make my living being a musician and I depend on my equipment to work. The system has been such a headache. After about six months of using this system it started to crack on both channel 1 & 2. Then the PA would randomly completely shut off. In the middle of a song of course. Very embarrassing and unprofessional. I called Fishman and after months of following their directions and having them have me take it apart and send parts back to them they finally told me the problem was "intermittent" and they sent me a new front panel to replace the channels. It worked okay for about an hour and started cracking again and shutting off again. I am very disheartened to the fact that I wasted all that money on a system that stressed me out as much as it did and only worked for about 6 months. I wasted valuable time and money on this system. It is not reliable at all.

I use the SA 220 for my solo acoustic performances. It's easy to set up and easy to move around. It is clear sounding and powerful enough to accommodate most size rooms a solo act would play.

Big enough for a Gospel Quartet!

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this Solo amp last Christmas and I absolutely love it! I also purchased an Alto six channel mixer and I plug it into one of the channels of the Fishman. I run four wireless mics, a keyboard, and my Taylor Acoustic Guitar through the mixer and the sound is incredible. The sound is clean and loud, and the set up is quick and easy, and it's light and easy on the back! I really like having it set up behind me, I can hear the vocals better than any monitor that I've ever used before. I'm honestly amazed at how well it does all this, with such good highs and lows. We play mostly smaller churches and so far it's been plenty of sound for every setting we've used it for. It's not quite big enough to do much outside, but I do use it as a monitor with my bigger Yamaha system. I would strongly recommend it to use in smaller venues!

        Best in Its class

        By BRIAN

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

bought two SA220's for my acoustic show which includes two guitars bass and percussion. One stopped working after the warranty was up. I contacted Fishman for the repairs they sent me an RA to send it back. I was prepared to pay for the repair knowing it was out of warranty. To my surprise I sent it to them and within a week They sent me back a new in the box unit. The only thing I paid for is the shipping to the factory. This is a great sounding small PA and the icing on the cake for me is the great customer service at Fishman. I am hooked no pun intended. A helpful hint if you are looking to add more bottom end as we do we hookup our QSC K-12 powered speakers to the monitor out and hook up a mixer to the monitor in the results are we can set up the full band with the PA behind us with a lot of punch and control over the volume and tone. We have been using Boss GT-100's for electric guitar sounds the bass direct, and mics on the kick drum and overheads. The sound is fantastic. Try experimenting with these versatile Fishtics. It is everthing that Bose wants to be only with a warmer sound and more power.

Far superior to the Bose L1 Compact!

        By Dave Walgrave

        from Florida

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought the L1 Compact first and had SO many feedback problems. Bose said to stand 5-7 feet in front of it which just isn't possible in some/most venues. They also recommended the ToneMatch, but hey, that's another $500. This Fishman SA220 has features that blow the Bose away....it's very well thought out. 1. The case has wheels on it making it easy to take to a gig. 2. The controls are extremely convenient and easy to tweak while standing or sitting on a bar stool. 3. Phase and anti-feedback work great 4. Mute, reverb and phantom power are REALLY nice to have too. NONE of these features are on the Bose.... Most important though, the sound is what you'd expect from Fishman. Crystal clear guitar and vocals that project evenly through the whole room. It doesn't have a subwoofer and is plenty bassy without one. I play this in a couple places that hold up to 100 people and have never turned the master volume past half way. I'm very happy with the Fishman!

All three items together make this an remarkable system.

        By Jeffrey Evans

        from Sarasota Florida

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

To maximize the performance of the Fishman SA220 you need to add the Kustom PA112S sub woofer. Connect the two with a On Stage sub woofer pole #109100776 and you will have a clean and simple system. You won't need the Fishman tripod stand. Just use the adjustable sub pole. I also velcro a guitar tuner and CD player on the top of the sub cabinet which give you a very convenient platform to use. Now you are set to enjoy performing with what I have found to be the most efficient and best sounding system that a soloist can buy. The sub is a must and for $199.00 it adds 1000% to the Fishman. If I was selling the Fishman PA220 I would have this set up and demo it right next to the Boss. If you do solo gigs get rid of the board, speakers, and monitors and head out there with this system. You will be glad you made the change. Jeff Evans

        Awesome sound

        By joseph shevlin

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought mine used on-line at a nearby guitar center (Evansville, IN) and picked it up in the store. With the 30 day return policy this was a great way to try it out in person without any risk at all. I am so glad I did. I love it. The sound quality and dispersion are unreal, both for vocals and guitar. Try one out sometime - it's hard to describe - pure, clean, and full. I play a Yairi DY62C and sing through a Sennheiser 835 using a TC Helicon Harmony GXT harmony pedal. Its really all a solo artist needs. Great connection options, and I don't see the need for an additional mixer. I also have a Jam Man loop pedal for backing tracks that sounds great through the Fishman. I like the reverb on the fishman and use it for the guitar. As other reviewers have noted, the case is a bit flimsy but will protect the amp (on mine one of the carrying strap connections was broken). Bottom line: This is worth every penny for it's awesome sound, and my purchase through GC was a great experience.

The sound is bright in the highs and mids but the bass is shallow and could be better.A neat package to move and wheel around.Could have more effects which now I am using some effects in line and it wakes it up.With GC discount the price was better.I play solo Chet Atkins style and I will keep this amp.

        I Absolutely Love It

        By James T

        from Saginaw, MI

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The sound quality is excellent. Very full rich sound. Plenty of power for the venues I play. FYI - There are four inputs - a quarter inch input and XLR on each side with separate volume, tone and effects control on each channel. However you can only use on input on each channel. For instance once you've plugged your quarter inch guitar cable into channel one the XLR in channel one is now dead. Same with channel two. So if you sometimes want someone else to jam with you using this PA you would need Y-cables to do so. The effects are only so, so, but the overall quality and richness of sound is as good as I've heard. No need for a monitor just set it up behind you and go.

        Thumbs up for Fishman Solo

        By Vinnie

        from Bethlehem, PA

Comments about Fishman SA220 Solo Performance System & Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I play acoustic as a solo act, duo, or also in a band. I've been using the Bose L1 Model 1 for several years - picked it up used. I also picked up a used Bose T1 Tonematch to use with it - love the T1. Recently my Bose started having issues with cutting out during performances. I would have to turn the unit off then back on. Not very professional when you're in the middle of a song. So, I wanted to get a reliable replacement and use the Bose as a back up. I really wanted the Bose L1 Model II, but cannot justify paying 3 grand +. After reading all the great reviews on the Fishman Solo, I decided to get one. Picked it up at my local GC on 2/18/10 for the sale price of $799 plus tax! I couldn't believe it- thought they never went on sale- maybe a president's day weekend special? That night I had a gig as a duo act. Used the Bose T1 Tonematch mixer into channel 1 of the Fishman Solo. You have to tweak the settings on the Tonematch, using the T1 pre-master volume as high as possible, T1 master volume at around 1/3, and then use the master of the Fishman to control the overall volume. These settings reduce the noise some have complained of with this setup. Two guitars, one piezo and one Taylor ES pickups, and two mics. All sounded great. The only thing I noticed was on my Taylor there was a slight drop off in bass on the low E string that I could not enhance with EQ. But-in other ways, the overall richness of the guitar sound shone through better than the Bose L1 Model 1- more up front, in your face. Portability and setup are a breeze, although I found that pulling the unit with the wheels doesn't work well, tilts over, but is lighter to carry than the Bose Model 1 pieces. Since then I have also used the unit with my band, using the Fishman inputs rather than the T1. If you follow the instructions you will have no issues with feedback. Master was at less than half volume, plenty for a reasonable size room. My bandmates commented on the good sound I got, and couldn't tell the difference from the Bose unit. So if you can't drop 3+ grand for the Bose L1 Model II, this is the unit you want.
