Excellent Acoustic Amp

By Rodolfo Liceaga

from Lake Forest, CA

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I have tried Marshalls, Fenders, Genz Benz, and Acoustic brand acoustic guitar amps, and I have to say that the Fishman Artist is the perfect mix between warm and transparent sounding that I have found. The loud box mini is a great amp as well, but I feel that the Artist is a little warmer (but not too much so that it would color the sound) sounding. I do have to say that for my personal tastes, I like it better than the Fishman Performer. The Artist's effects are very good. the chorus is not so much that it sounds like a different instrument (as well as the delay and reverbs). The effects are icing on the cake. The sound of the amp, for me is the real seller. I sit with the amp dialed in and compare the guitar with the volume on and off and I am blown away at how it sounds just like the guitar... just louder. I definitely recomend this to anyone who is of the camp that an acoustic guitar amp should not color the sound of the guitar.

Flexibility in a small package.

By Jeff Pike

from Richmond, VA

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I did some comparisons in my local store and found I preferred the tone of Fishman amps over others. I took it on faith that the Loudbox Artist was going to be a good one and placed the order. I am not disappointed. It sounds incredible with both nylon and steel string guitars with the tone controls relatively flat. The tone controls actually do something on this amp too. I really like being able to adjust the volume on the tweeter separately -- that can make this sound like a completely different amp. The versatility and quality of the effects is outstanding. Sounds great with guitars as well as voice in a 25 pound package. For my money this is the best amp in the price range.

Taylor Guitar Owners Dream Amp!!!!

By Martha Bernicker

from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

This amp sounds absolutely amazing with Taylor Guitars. I am sure it sounds great with other guitars too but I have played the GS5, 414CE, and 814CE and was blown away by the sound, especially with the GS5. If you have a Taylor Guitar, BUY THIS AMP!!! You will not regret it!

Great for strings

By Vincent Young

from Ann Arbor, MI

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

Was looking for an amp to play a viola and cello (with a Headway "The Band" pickup system) through. The overtones of these instruments can make any amp distort, but the Fishman handled it like a champ. You can get a really accurate reproduction of the natural string sound and the digital effects are great for messing around. Went into the Guitar Center store and tried a number of amps including guitar amps, keyboard amps and "all-in-one" PA systems. The Fishman was hands down the winner in terms of reproduction and warmth of tone. If you are a string play and are looking for a way to up your sound, this is the clear choice

My search is over

By David

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I bought a second hand Alvarez Yairi in 1984. Within a few months, I added an under saddle pickup when the only ones available were piezos. But soon, my ears became very fatigued to that piezo quack and so began my search for true acoustic sound. I still have that old Yairi but now, it has a Schertler Blue Stick under the saddle in place of the piezo. To be honest, the Blue Stick was an improvement but still never gave me what I wanted. When shopping for a new acoustic amp, I always took my own guitar along to test whatever amp I wanted to demo because I wanted no surprises. This finally led me to Guitar Center and to the Fishman Loudbox Artist. By this time, I?d owned a number of amps that all claimed to sound natural and I had demoed many more amps in stores ? amps from big name companies that one would think would have the resources behind them to get it right. When I took MY guitar into the Guitar Center and plugged it into the Fishman, I knew my search had finally reached the end. My old Yairi is really quite a good guitar. But I also know that it is not a high-end Martin, Gibson or Taylor. Now, with this Fishman Artist, I am not worried about the name on the headstock. It is all about the sound and this sounds WONDERFUL!! Thank you Fishman and Thank you Guitar Center. I agree with the other reviewer about the sensitivity of the eq controls. I really like this feature. But also, the anti-feedback notch filter in combination with the phase button, add so much value. There is nothing worse than playing an acoustic guitar on stage in a live show and having a combination of piezo quack and runaway feedback to completely destroy a musician?s artistic expression. Now, with this Fishman, those days are gone.

Great amp for a fiddle

By steve welsch

from Sautee, georgia

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I am thrilled with this amp. I tried this amp out at guitar center with my fiddle and it sounded great. I also tried the mini and is sounded very good too. I decided to buy the Artist because it had more features for effects and more power. My problem on cheaper amps was distortion at higher volumes when playing doublestops and this amp is clear as a bell. I use a Cross TDX 100 pickup run thru a LR Baggs Venue DI box. The sound is the most natural I have heard on any amp. For effects I found that a small amount of delay with a fast time is more clear and rich than the reverb. I can't wait to send the post signal thru our PA system to see how it sounds. I have played Bluegrass music flor over thirty years. I am going to try this out as a stage monitor in conjunction with a live mic for bluegrass shows. When I play with some rock & roll, swing jazz or country it will make a great stage monitor and the sound will be much more fiddle like than before. The effects are wonderfull with the options they give you with the time and depth adjustments. Thank You Fishman for making a great fiddle amp that is lightwieght and affordable

Love the Amp!

By Tim McLain

from Mobile, Alabama

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I've been playing the acoustic guitar for a while, but I recently bought and new Taylor and decided that I wanted amp it up so I started shopping for amps. I originally bought the smaller Fishman Loudbox Mini PRO LBX-500, which I liked a lot, but I quickly decided that I should have stepped-up and spent a little more money, so a few months later I purchased the Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo. I'll admit that I don't know a lot about amps and haven't spend a lot of time playing different ones, but what I can tell you is that I absolutely LOVE this one. It has simple easy-to-use settings and a lot of extras, like the anti feedback feature that makes it easy to crank up in a small, confined areas and an auxiliary volume adjustment that is great when you want to patch in and play along. This unit has everything that I will ever need in an amp at a reasonable price and a size that is not too bulky or heavy. The Mini is a great buy at a little over $300, but if you can spend the extra $200, buy the Artist PRO-LBX-600.

Big Sound...Small Box

By MICHAEL

from New Orleans, Louisiana

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I have had my Loudbox Artist for three days and I am really impressed at the sound from something this size. I looked all the reviews and listened to the videos and knew that it was what I wanted with the connection capability it has to be able to hook up to more PA if needed. The night before I bought it I was sitting in front of a system playing my acoustic and singing thru a system with dual 18 inch jbl subs with 12 inch tops and the weekend before I was playing for a block party with a peavey xr696 mixer with 12 inch monitors and a couple of 12 inch jbls on sticks. Sure the bigger systems will throw your sound a long way but I cannot believe the quality of sound coming out of this thing. I even hooked up a bass to it and said to myself that I can do small poolside gigs with this one amp! If you are a guitar player/ singer and are worried it will not be enough of a full sound have no fear. It will deliver, do not let the size scare you away. I f you need more for a larger gig with drums then simply use the out to the mixer. I am very impressed with all the guitar tones and the vocals coming out of it. There is a reason it cost a little more than some of the others...when you get it home you will be glad you did.

Great amp for fiddle

By Frank Mello

from Kentucky, U.S.A

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I purchased this Fishman Loudbox Artist through Guitar Center for use as a mic preamp, phantom power source, basic FX unit, stage monitor, and direct out to our mixing console. It is working very well for these purposes. I have the amp on a stand facing towards me, with it pointed just slightly off axis to suppress feedback from my boom-mounted condenser mic. Things that I really like about this amp: - phantom power (24 volt): it can be switched on and off. It works perfectly well with my AKG C535 condenser mic. The current standard for many condenser mics is for phantom power between 9 and 52 volts. The phantom power is not channel specific on this amp. When turned on, it is active on both main input channels (but not the aux stereo input, which is a very good feature). - two identical main input channels, with combo inputs. They will accept balanced mic level XLR connections, or unbalanced line level 1/4" connections, perfect for either instruments or microphones. They have identical controls, which allows either channel to be used with all of the features of the amp available on either channel. - a third stereo aux input on the back, accomadating either 1/8" or 1/4" stereo plugs. Perfect for playing MP3 music through. Even better, when the main channels are muted, this rear input is still active, which allows you to play recorded music, while your mics or instruments are muted. The only down side to this is that there is no tone shaping on the aux input. - 120 watts of power split into 100 watts for the main driver, and 20 watts for the tweeter. I have found that the best setting for the tweeter is with the attenuator set to the halfway point. It's too bright for me with the attenuator set to full open. Since the attenuator is actually controlling the output of the 20 watt side of the amplifier, it's not just strictly "attenuating" a high pass filter (like most attenuators), but is a volume control for a separate amplifier circuit. - Another great feature is the presence of three direct outputs on the back. I use the mixed direct out, which sums both main channels and the aux input signals, and sends them out post-tone and FX controls. This sends to the board exactly what I am hearing through the amp. There are also individual pre-outs for both main channels. All the outputs are balanced XLR. Both design and execution of this product are top notch, considering the diminutive size and price I'm very pleased with it.

ACOUSTIC NEAR-PERFECTION

By BRUCE WEATHERS

from Ashburn, VA

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

Taylor 814 + this amp is sweet, clean, pure - the best acoustic amp I've had yet. Big, big sound but again, set-clean-pure, in a small box. Incuded effects (reverb and chorus) are great. Watchout for feedback with high volumes but other than that really sounds amazing.

After Replacement Stellar

By ROBERT TOTTY

from VA

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

The first amp I bought lost the effects the 2nd day out on channel one (bad electronics usually go out in the first few weeks so was not too surprised). GC took back and reordered with no hassle. The next unit performed like the one I had tested in the store and I have had no further trouble. An excellent sounding acoustic amp with nice affects - the volume, clarity and tone that you would expect for an acoustic is above average with this amp. I use it with a Taylor 410 and Gibson Studio Deluxe. Sounds unbelievable with the Taylor - like a grand concert with sustain and crisp tone right out of the box (Taylor amplification goes well with this amp)... Gisbon has the fishman electronics built in so a lot of choices in setting up the sound - works great with both.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I purchased this amp without hearing it. I had read reviews and everyone was favorable about it... and now I know why. I picked it up at the nearest GC and got it home quickly. I plugged a Gibson Hummingbird Pro guitar in to it and turned the volume to about the 2 setting. I also experimented with the effects that are built it. I could not believe the sound. It really is something to behold. I have not yet tried it with vocals through a microphone but I will say that as an acoustic guitar amp it is without flaw. I cannot wait for my next opportunity to perform in worship (soon) with this amp. The beauty of it is that if you play a room that is small without a PA you will be heard. But, if you play a room with a PA you can connect it and use this as a personal monitor, and hear yourself perfectly. I highly recommend this product.

Fantastic amp!

By paul

from Portland, ME

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

Although I read a lot of reviews for this amp, I bought it untested - something I never do. Fortunately, this turned out to be one of the best purchases I ever made -- seriously! This is just a fantastic amp. My Taylor 12-string has never sounded better. I can dial in the exact tone I need to deliver crisp, clear, and defined "voice" of my guitar and the effects can range from super subtle to over the top. Playing with other guitars is no problem anymore and I don't get lost in the mix. I can use one channel for vocals and the other for guitar with different effects/tone on each and it sounds like I have my own sound man helping me. Astonishingly, the amp is really small and light. When I took it out of the box, I was skeptical but all that went away after 5 mins of playing. If you need a quality acoustic amp, don't hesitate, buy this! you will NOT be disappointed.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I bought this amp a year ago. This is a great amp for a natural acoustic sound. I can project clear, clean sound across a large space without distortion, or sounding like an electronic reproduction, or getting painfully loud. At one venue, I plugged the guitar and microphone into the mic/instrument inputs, then, plugged a condenser microphone into the auxiliary input for the mandolin. I was amazed at how the true sound of the mandolin came through. It was like we were playing in a jam circle rather than trying to be heard across a crowded restaurant.
The only trouble I've had is the reverb spring sometimes creates pops and crackles when the amp warms up. I learned not to turn it off between sets.

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

perfect independent control over each channel including effects. very lightweight and loud though I was surprised how small it is. Smaller than the Acoustic A40 which I also own but the Loudbox is better, that being said, I paid well over twice the amount for the Fishman Loudbox than the A40. 4 star because GC stuck me with the display/demo model for my online/store pickup order, they did offer to order a new one in the box but the 80 mile trip to get it wasn't working for me. Also, Fishman has a great owners manual that should come with amp (mine didn't, floor model) with some interesting and simple tone tips for different volume settings. ...the simple things in life...

Comments about Fishman Loudbox Artist PRO-LBX-600 Acoustic Combo Amp:

I initially went to check-out the Fishman Loudbox 600 after watching my favorite Flamenco guitarist use it at a gig in L.A. The sound of this amp is amazing so I bought it after testing it out at G.C. Whether using it in a clean acoustic mode along with vocals, or pushing a very heavy effects-pedal setup through it, I have never been unimpressed with this amp. I have a JC120, a Fender amp, and this baby which is currently my favorite amp. It is bloody loud as well, I mean molar-rattling loud and clean sounding when cranking the volume. The sound quality and color (timbre) are very impressive at high volume. There are on-board effects: two reverb choices, a delay, echo, two types of chorus, a flanger, and a slap echo setting, all which you can dial-in the depth of for each of the two separate channels. The amp supplies phantom power for a microphone (my Sennheiser MK4 sounds great through it), and a great anti-feedback dial that really comes in handy while playing and singing through it at the same time. I highly recommend this amp - check it out and see for yourself if it suits your style.
