Designed for the singer/songwriter, the SA220 Solo Performance System is a powerful, yet lightweight, system—providing exceptional sound quality and coverage in a wide variety of venues. 220 watts of clean, lightweight power drive a line array of six custom high-excursion speakers and a soft-dome tweeter. This unique combination delivers incredibly full sound, ultra-wide dispersion, and deeper sonic penetration than the common speaker cabinet. Better yet, the enhanced bass response of the custom-designed speakers means there's no need for a subwoofer.
With the SA220 system, the performer and audience hear exactly the same sound, meaning there's no need for separate wedge monitors or a combo amp backline. The SA220 is voiced for the singer/songwriter, acoustic instruments and vocals are projected with superb depth and clarity.
The ultimate in portability
The SA220 weighs only 25 lb., ships complete with a padded bag equipped with wheels, and includes a rugged speaker stand. Set up takes less than a minute, with only one trip to the car. Plus full-digital universal power means that its amplification system is ready to travel anywhere in the world (compatible with international power systems).
Features that performing musicians demand
Fishman didn't make the SA220 this portable by scaling back on features or tone. It's also equipped with two mic/instrument channels featuring high-quality preamps, each with 3-band EQ, phantom power, built-in reverb, effects loop, and feedback-fighting notch filter, and phase controls. In fact, Fishman included all of the prized elements of the Loudbox family amps and added a unique monitor feature designed to revolutionize an acoustic duo's ability to hear each other on stage.

When I first bought this Fishman Solo amp, I loved it, but I thought I'd give it time to see how it held up. Well it's been a couple years at least, and it's held up just fine. I love it's sound it's portability, it ease to set up and also the service. I had a small problem with the speaker stand and it was quickly and satisfactorily cleared up by the Guitar Center in Portland and the Fishman rep so that I never missed a beat. ( I bought the extended warrany because the system was brand new to the market place) I have used this system inside and out and I highly recommend this system especially to solo acoustic performers
I've had my Fishman now for a year and the novelty has not worn off. My primary use of it is entertaining adult homes, day habs, etc.. The sound is fantastic in every setting I've encountered. Set up/tear down saves me time over my former system. I've used it in some coffee house settings and even a large barn event. I don't believe I have ever needed more than half volume(most settings is maybe 1/4). The anti feedback control is awesome. I primarily play a '96 Guild JF30 through it w/a Stagg mic. The sound is superb. It fills the room in every direction. I use a portable CD player or my IPhone for down time filler and the sound is great. As a solo musician I cannot imagine a better system for the money. I highly recommend it!
I play acoustic as a solo act, duo, or also in a band. I've been using the Bose L1 Model 1 for several years - picked it up used. I also picked up a used Bose T1 Tonematch to use with it - love the T1.
Recently my Bose started having issues with cutting out during performances. I would have to turn the unit off then back on. Not very professional when you're in the middle of a song.
So, I wanted to get a reliable replacement and use the Bose as a back up. I really wanted the Bose L1 Model II, but cannot justify paying 3 grand +. After reading all the great reviews on the Fishman Solo, I decided to get one. Picked it up at my local GC on 2/18/10 for the sale price of $799 plus tax! I couldn't believe it- thought they never went on sale- maybe a president's day weekend special?
That night I had a gig as a duo act. Used the Bose T1 Tonematch mixer into channel 1 of the Fishman Solo. You have to tweak the settings on the Tonematch, using the T1 pre-master volume as high as possible, T1 master volume at around 1/3, and then use the master of the Fishman to control the overall volume. These settings reduce the noise some have complained of with this setup.
Two guitars, one piezo and one Taylor ES pickups, and two mics. All sounded great. The only thing I noticed was on my Taylor there was a slight drop off in bass on the low E string that I could not enhance with EQ. But-in other ways, the overall richness of the guitar sound shone through better than the Bose L1 Model 1- more up front, in your face.
Portability and setup are a breeze, although I found that pulling the unit with the wheels doesn't work well, tilts over, but is lighter to carry than the Bose Model 1 pieces.
Since then I have also used the unit with my band, using the Fishman inputs rather than the T1. If you follow the instructions you will have no issues with feedback. Master was at less than half volume, plenty for a reasonable size room. My bandmates commented on the good sound I got, and couldn't tell the difference from the Bose unit.
So if you can't drop 3+ grand for the Bose L1 Model II, this is the unit you want.
