I have played music for over 40 years, always searching for "that sound", something I could be excited about and could excite the audiences with. The Fishman Power-bridge gave me that sound. At first I was disappointed, because it was a useless addition to my guitar without the Powerchip to go along with it. After installing the Powerchip, the guitar came to life, because then the Power-bridge and passive magnetic pickups could be blended. There is an infinite variability to the combined sound of passive magnetic pickups and the active powerbridge. I also installed a 3-way switch(simple to do) which enables me to use the magetics alone, the powerbridgealone, or both combined. In the combined position, you can utilize the powerchip's volume control and the regular magnetics' volume to blend to suit your style. The overall effect is a clear, clean sound, and even distorted, the sound is better. Sustain, clarity, sweetness...that's all I can say.
