This is a great amp. You get a terrific portable PA and acoustic amp in one 35lb. package. Fishman quality can't be beat. My acoustic guitars sound fantastic whether I use one with a built in or attached pickup or I mike the guitar. This amp sounds great at low volume at home practicing or on stage at a louder volume. Also, I don't have to be concerned about the quality of the PA at a gig because the Fishman Loudbox delivers the sound I want anywhere, anytime. The Loudbox reproduces the true sound of my acoustic guitars amazingly and with such clarity of tone. The effects features are great whether practicing, playing live or recording with it. I also use my 1963 Fender Stratocaster through it for some of my songs and the sound is incredible. You can't go wrong with this amp and you won't have any regrets if you buy it, especially with Guitar Centers 30 day return policy.
Visited my local Guitar Center about a month ago and found the Fishman Loudbox Performer and the SoloAmp SA220 set up and ready to audition in the "high end" acoustic guitar room. Took a guitar with a built-in active pickup and eq off the wall and plugged in. The little Performer held its own against the more expensive "Fishstick." Basically both have the same features, with the SA220's tower array of speakers having better dispersion and more power than the Performer. Not being features I definitely needed, I felt the Performer sounded pretty close to the SA220 for less money. Came back about two weeks later with my own guitar (passive pickup) to retry both amps and, wouldn't you know it, both had been sold. Last week the store received one more of both units, and knowing Guitar Center's 30 day return policy, I bought the Loudbox Performer. I have three guitars, one classical and two "fingerstyle" acoustics, all with passive pickups. The "acoustic combo amp" part of the name couldn't be more correct. All three guitars plugged in with the amp's tone controls set flat simply sounded like louder versions of themselves with hardly any coloration. Amazing. The "performer" part of the name is also right on. I can set it on an amp stand about three feet off the floor slightly behind me to my right and can hear my voice and guitar as if it were a monitor. Any feedback is quickly dispatched on either channel with two easy-to-use controls. Fishman has definitely designed the perfect little box for the acoustic guitarist/singer. I don't need 30 days to know that this one's a keeper.
During the past few months I went out looking for an acoustic amp that would handle what my Martin was putting out. At the end of the search, believe me I tried them all and thru much frustration and the refund line, I wound up sittin' in front of this fishman amp. Finally, an amp that controls the lows, mids and highs seperately, with natural tone the whole way through. Kind of reminded me of the Trace Elliots of yesteryear. I think thats what I was looking for all along. Great controlled sound. Very nice Fishman. Thanks
