Harmonizes bass parts to fill the void guitarists can leave behind.

Want to improve the band's sound when your guitarist quits playing rhythm to take a solo? • Not Worth It to Me

As reviewed by Christopher Carpenter on 12/19/2012

I tried everything from fretless passive basses to EUB's through this pedal and all points in between, and I could never dial in a decent sound. As some have noted you have to be very precise and really hit the note pretty hard to get the pedal to duplicate the correct pitch. (and yes I adjusted the trim). Even then, if you happen to play something a little faster all you hear is a warbling car crash. I personally never heard a difference no matter how I set the noise gate, and the built in overdrive is cartoonish at best. Whether you run the signal all together or use the effect out and use a separate amp, this pedal has only 1 application in my opinion, and that is live and loud so no one will notice how bad it truly sounds.

  • Cool

I have found that this unit tracks very well and sounds good. I highly recommend putting the "mix" side through a separate amp however, to give more control over its tone and allow for adding effects. The sound is not perfect---I would not record with it---but is fine for live applications. The noise gate helps, but there is still a bit of a ghost note; again, live, no one will notice. For playing something like "Lagrange", it covers the rhythm guitar part well. I certainly do not use it on every song, but it is a very useful and usable tool.

  • Has Bugs

As reviewed by William Conrad on 10/24/2011

I think the concept is valid. I could really use it if it tracked better. It seems to be easily confused unless you are really pulling on the strings. Your technique has to be very clean; 1 note at a time-needs a tiny rest between notes. Hammer-on's are a bit of a problem as well. I also messed with and tweaked on it but the tone is just a bit cheesy for me to fill in with. Sorry to say, mine is going back. Perhaps the "next generation" will be a bit better.
