• Great little tuner

  We seem to have an unending supply of tuners in our house, from the Boss TU-3 down to a Korg unit that is over 25 years old and still going strong. We didn't need another.... Until I saw the Fishman on sale at GC. I picked one up on a whim, and it's excellent. Very stable and accurate, and even works on my electric bass (some of the other headstock tuners have issues with the low E string on a bass). Read the instructions on this unit. It can be set to downtune in half-step increments; if you don't look at the display closely, you may not notice the little icons at the bottom of the screen. As for size - this is tiny. We leave it on the headstock of my wifes guitar, and we hardly notice it - but it's there whenever we need it. Best feature for me is the red/green backlighting; it only turns green when you're perfectly in tune, which is great for a quick tune up between songs. Downsides: None, really. It doesn't have a 1/4" connection, but it doesn't need one. It might not be as accurate as a rack-mounted tuner, but it's great for our use, and it gives the same readings as our TU-3. Highly recommended.

• Tuner: Small, simple, sensitive, accurate, effective, inexpensive!

  I was truly impressed by the accuracy, simplicity, size and cost of the tuner. The red/green "go-no go" background color indication makes tuning in low light really simple and accurate. The size is quite small, smaller than I'd anticipate from the ad which does a good job of enlarging the tuner to display the controls. It's no more obtrusive than a capo on the top of your tuning head. I use the tuner primarily in the pickup mode (rather than microphone) and find it's not confused at all by fairly significant background noise. The adjustable tuning reference and choice of string or note are added benefits. For open chord tunings and tuning my 12 string, the note mode is especially helpful. Overall, a really well-thought-out unit for a bargain price.
