Overview

Finale PrintMusic 2008 Music Notation Software is a simple and easy-to-use solution for getting your musical ideas on the same page, literally. Starting with the straightforward launch window you can choose between creating new music, opening existing music, or heading to the learning center.

The Create New Music section offers a Setup Wizard where you can open up a predefined ensemble or create one of your own. The Default Document button takes you to a blank document with one staff line where you can start writing your music. The Templates area offers up 31 preset professional templates ready to go for different styles of music.
Utilizing SmartScore Lite by Musitek, the Scanning button allows you to scan a finished page of music which then shows up on a score sheet with the notes in their proper place with a high percentage of accuracy. With all of these options you can create scores with up to 24 staves for exporting and print out.

In the Open Existing Music section you can open up PrintMusic or other Finale product files, MIDI files, recent files, or import MusicXML files, and more.

Need help? The Learning Center portion not only gives you a Tip of the Day, but it also has QuickStart 'How to' videos, the user manual, and a tutorial guide.

This edition of the Finale PrintMusic software allows you to import and export graphics, choose over a dozen different paper textures and colors, and add lyrics too. You also get Row-Loff marching percussion sounds and a free software synth to listen to your composition. Or you can use the included MicNotator to play melody from a brass or woodwind instrument directly into your score. Add drum parts with Drum Groove, or let the Band-in-a-Box auto harmony turn your melody into two or three voice harmony. It also includes a guitar and bass tablature option. There's been several enhancements for Mac users, and several ways in which you can share your music, from audio files to exporting MusicXML or MIDI files.

Overall, Finale PrintMusic 2008 is an uncomplicated, affordable musical notation software solution.

Finale PrintMusic 2008

By Krista

from St. Charles, IL

The Finale PrintMusic 2008 software is everything I thought it would be (and more). I'm sorry I waited so long, thinking I would have to spend ten times as much to get something I could use. I printed up something for my fellow chorister to audition with the day I received it, and if you knew me, you would consider me technologically impaired. It wasn't perfect, but such an improvement in legibility over my handwritten version. I am looking forward to learning how to put down a piece for orchestra, with automatic transposing - you've saved me a chunk of change on formal training in music theory and composition.
