Integrated Sequencer Controls

Integrated controls for each staff enable you to set volume, panning, and patch as well as choose to mute, solo, or record. Adjust parameters for all staves—in realtime—with the powerful mixer.

Standard Music Notation

Build compositions track by track in Studio View's multitrack recording environment. Because everything appears in standard music notation, there's no need for separate sequencing software that uses complex computer symbols. As before, MIDI data can be easily edited.

Studio View

Studio View puts power at students' fingertips, allowing them to shape compositions right before their eyes and ears. Composing in Studio View is a lot like sculpting: Students build a composition by adding to it piece by piece, line by line. Experimentation is fast, easy, and always performed in standard music notation. Changing, modifying, and improving the work is possible because Finale 2006 empowers students to make creative choices.

With Studio View in Finale 2006, students work in standard music notation at all times. There is no need to switch to separate sequencing software or learn complex computer symbols. With Finale 2006, students compose, learn, and notate all at once. Then they can print the results as engraver-quality sheet music.

SmartMusic

SmartMusic a complete music practice system with over 30,000 titles, featuring our proprietary Intelligent Accompaniment technology that listens to musicians sing or play through a microphone and follows their spontaneous tempo changes. This award-winning, interactive system makes practicing fun and efficient. Supported by leading musicians like Wynton Marsalis, James Galway, Dawn Upshaw, and many others.

SmartMusic is the essential practice tool for students in band, orchestra, and choir. SmartMusic fosters rapid student progress, while making practicing more fun and tracking individual student progress. Among some to the feature in SmartMusic are:

Intelligent Accompaniment

Intelligent Accompaniment listens and follows spontaneous tempo changes. So as students practice and slow down and it slows down; speed up and it speeds up; set it to hold a note and it waits.

Repertoire library

Repertoire library includes more than 30,000 solo titles. Students in band, orchestra, and choir enjoy practicing with professional accompaniments featuring authentic basso continuo, full orchestra, piano, jazz trios, and even pop/rock bands! SmartMusic's incredibly wide selection includes the most comprehensive repertoire library, including classical pieces, movie themes, songs from musical theater, popular band and string method books, plus jazz, pop, rock, country, and religious and Christmas favorites.

Adjust to any tempo and practice with accompaniment

Faulty technique develops when students practice at tempos that are too fast. SmartMusic allows for control over the tempo while enjoying the many benefits of accompaniment. Students can practice music slowly until they can get every note right. Then, as they gain confidence, they can gradually build up speed.

Record practice sessions for immediate feedback

SmartMusic's recording capability allows students to record their performances at home. This way, they can immediately review and analyses their playing. Recordings can also be e-mailed to teachers for additional feedback, shared with family and friends, archived to track progress.

As a student plays an exercise or song, the SmartMusic assessment feature displays the notes the student played. Correctly played notes appear in green; red notes indicate an incorrect pitch or rhythm. This immediate feedback gives students the opportunity to improve before the next lesson. SmartMusic even grades the assessment based upon the percentage of correct (green) notes and rhythms. With SmartMusic at home, students can complete assignments on their own and e-mail an assessment screenshot or a recording to their teacher, with the click of a button.
