Oh Say Can you Hear The Tone!

By Michael Roberts

from Marina Del Rey CA.

I recently purchased the Wayne Kramer Stratocaster right here at Guitar Center. I own high end and low end guitars. The tone from this guitar is unlike anything I own. From my Gibson SG/Les Paul to my American Vintage Fender Stratocasters. I highly recommend this guitar if you are looking for a unique tone. The Bridge pickup is amazingly twangy. It's got a very bright country twang to it. The next position is a combo of the bridge and the Humbucker. That's where you leave behind the typical Strat sound. It's a very mid sounding tone. The middle position activating just the Humbucker really sounds like a Humbucker should sound, Mid,Warm Rock and roll sounding. It's a new experience to hear that tone on a Strat. The next position is a combo of the Humbucker and the Neck Strat pickup, again, very unique sounding. Finally the neck pickup sounds great on it's own. It's surprisingly well balanced with a Humbucker in the middle position. As for the looks.. I was hesitant to purchases after seeing some other artist series "relics" such as the Joe Strummer. This guitar looks naturally relic'ed. It looks very authentic in hand. Honestly, well done Fender! This is a well made guitar. The neck is very nice. This is a very well made relic. I am not a huge MC5 fan. I learned more about Wayne after purchasing and he's a great guy and it's an honor to own his unique signature model Stratocaster. If you are looking for a new unique tone then check out this Wayne Kramer Stratocaster. There isn't anything out there like it, at least that I have seen.
