Bassists have loved the signature Geddy Lee Jazz Bass for years. The new U.S.A. Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a new version that combines the specs and features of Lee' three favorite basses”two Fender Custom Shop versions of his signature model and the original sleek black ™72 Jazz Bass that Rush' revered bassist/vocalist has riffed away on in front of millions of devoted fans worldwide and on many a mega-selling album. The neck has a thicker custom profile, topped by a maple fingerboard with elegant white binding and white pearloid block inlays. For enormous tone that crackles with life and bristles with the energy, its two vintage-style single-coil Jazz Bass pickups are specially wound and voiced to sound like those on Lee' prized 1972 original, and a Geddy Lee signature High-Mass bridge provides rock-solid intonation.
A Greatest Hits Instrument
Lee's new signature bass blends the best features of his two Custom Shop models with those of his original ™72 J Bass®.
Custom "C" Neck Shape
A thicker "C" profile imparts a more substantial feel to the slim and comfortable J Bass® neck.

White Binding and Inlays
White appointments, including sleek pearloid block inlays, instill elegance into this awesomely energetic instrument.
Custom Voiced Pickups
A pair of American Vintage ™70s Lee signature pickups provides plenty of punch and clarity along with genuine vintage Fender vibe.

Comments about Fender USA Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass:
I had a Fender Precision bass well over thirty years ago when I was a kid. I played in church, in band and jazz band in school and some local bar bands. I loved the bass but when I went into the military I sold it. That is the only bass/guitar I ever regretted selling. Recently I was invited to play bass for a local prodution. I thought I would use my sons bass but was not happy with the sound. Its a five string and I am used to a four and that also was throwing me off. I took the plunge and ordered the Geddy Lee American Jazz Bass. It surpassed my expectations. I love the tone and playability. I am excited to play it again and looking forward to playing it in the upcoming shows. You cant beat that Fender sound!
Comments about Fender USA Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass:
Awesome bass. Worth every penny.
My other tools (for background): '89 USA p bass plus and early 2000's USA Peavey Millennium 5 string. The p bass neck is standard width and string spacing but not as thick as a standard p. To me a standard p feels fat. The thickness of the Peavey is similar to the p, but the string spacing is more like a jazz.
Neck: Love it. Everything up top feels like a jazz but the contour on the back is definitely more rounded. Given the two previously mentioned instruments, to me this is a really fast neck. The craftsmanship of everything from the hardware to the binding to the finish is top notch. I absolutely love the block inlays and the way the two finishes are blended... from the silky feel on the back to the glossy hard feel everywhere else. Be advised that my guy had to do a full turn on the truss rod to get it where it needed to be. Not a bad thing, still plenty to work with. Just be advised that it needs to be setup just like most new instruments.
Body: Pretty straight forward jazz body. Doesn't feel heavy. Nice finish. Black color shows every mark, so be prepared for that. If you're wanting to put it in a glass case and call it a collector's item you need to handle it with kid gloves. Love the white pearl pickguard, and the bridge is massive and does everything you need it to do.
Pickups: This is what I've been missing all these years. These are super awesome, nasty, growly, punchy, bassy, full sounding pickups. You'll love em.
Bottom Line: The neck, pickups and overall craftsmanship provided by the folks at Fender USA make the price of admission totally worth while. While it's not a custom shop instrument, the engineering is definitely on that level. If you want to sound like Geddy, buy this and you supply the fingers. If you just want a solid jazz bass that's capable of sounding a bit rough around the edges, you might want to take a look.
