Overview

My Dream Guitar! Easiest to play, sounds wonderful. and very reasonable price! I walked into Guitar Center with NO intention of buying; just checking out the inventory. The week before I was seriously considering a smaller Taylor, but their $1,500 plus prices held me back. The playability and sound weren't THAT impressive. I walk into the Guitar Center Acoustic Room and I just seemed to be DRAWN to THIS Guitar. So, I picked it up and started playing like I've owned this for years! My wife was stunned and said "Yes, you HAVE to buy this"! This is the BEST Guitar i've ever played! So effortless, so beautiful! The room fills right up with the unmistakable presence of the music I make and it is sweet! I own a Morgan Monroe M50 Full Size Dreadnought that's nice too, but it isn't My Favorite. This Hellcat is MINE. So very glad I finally found the one! Thank you Fender! I was a little apprehensive about even looking at a Fender Acoustic, and I thought I'd ONLY want an "All Solid" Guitar, but after playing THIS I have to say, my opinion of Fender and their Acoustics changed. Not too crazy about the "Hellcat symbols and Skulls" but in reality, who cares? I am in LOVE with this guitar!

Bottom line up front: Overall, it's a good guitar for the money. For the typical person who wants to play for the fun of it, it's a good choice. Nice sound with the flexibility of an acoustic or electric option, and not a lot of cash required. The strengths include... Its size - not as big as a dreadnought, and still able to put out a pretty good classical guitar sound. The electric pickup is a flexible and nice to have add on. The onboard tuner is very convenient. For electrical guitar style players, the narrow neck may be just your thing. The Hellcat inlay work is nicely done. Weaknesses include... The high action - if you keep this for any length of time, you will almost certainly lower the bridge by filing down the saddle, and slotting the wire notches in the nut a little deeper. Both are easy enough to do yourself if you understand how and are careful. Hammer-ons are pretty quiet when played in acoustic mode. While this may not be true for everyone, the narrow neck is problematic for me. My fingers are too wide for some chords on the first three frets. B7 is a real bear for me on this guitar! I solve this with an easy workaround - capo between 3rd and 5th!

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm by no means the greatest guitar player. I used to play in a couple bands now just more for fun. I'm huge Rancid, Operation Ivy, Tim Armstrong fan, so this guitar is maybe more of a novelty item. I think it sounds great, looks amazing. Before this I owned an Epiphone acoustic (not sure what model) it was a gift. I traded it in for this after playing one of the Tim Armstrong models and haven't looked back. By far my favorite acoustic I've played. The added Hellcat inlays are pretty neat too. It may not compare to some of the high priced Martins or Taylors but for someone like me who just wants to play with a good sounding all around acoustic guitar this is it.

Hellcat = good Service = BAD

    By DJ

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Ordered used Hellcat and shipped it to my house. Pick guard was loose, someone had tried to glue it back on (badly). Guard was still pulling away from the body and glue had oozed out on both sides of the pick guard. Did not expect perfect guitar. DID expect a presentable guitar. Returned to store, had to eat the shipping cost. Like the Hellcat. Service not so much. Won't buy from them again. Beware of used gear from GC.

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really like this guitar. I brought it to the University of Houston's Moore Music Building and several of the students played the guitar and they absolutely loved it.

It's becoming my guitar of choice pretty quickly due to its great sound and size. I'm 5'7" and a big guitar can make me look like I'm a child. This guitar is smaller and is a blast to play.

I also purchased the HS case to keep it protected. This guitar will be in my collection for a long time and I would highly recommend that you pick one up and play it the next time that you're in a GC.

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Walked into Guitar Center not expecting to find anything. Just figured I'd play a bit and go home. Well, I walked in and for some unexplainable reason, I was "drawn" to THIS guitar. Interesting because I'm not a fan of Fender Acoustics in general. Started playing and the room filled with all this beautiful music! My wife was stunned! We both knew it was going to be bought. After struggling with a full sized Morgan Monroe M50C full sized dreadnaught, the size, playability. neck, and crisp sound were a welcome change! Please do yourself a favor and check it out! This is the steal of the year! I tried Taylors the week before and none of them impressed me like this! The price is RIDICULOUS! I really don't care about the Tim Armstrong stuff; I got over it quick LOL.,

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I had played just about every guitar I could possibly afford at the local guitar center when I stumbled across this gem. I picked it up and it sounded incredible. It has a great warm sound that fills the room and sounds great for many kinds of music. The only problem I have had is that the action came a little high but that is fixable so I am not even going to mark it down for that. For the price it is an incredible guitar.

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I already knew what I wanted and with the help of the staff at Shreveport GC I picked a keeper. Hands down if you are looking for and EA guitar this is the one to get. I have owned it for over a month and play it every chance I get as a matter o fact I've worn out one set of strings and had to replace them. Stop thinking about it and buy this Hellcat.

Comments about Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for several months now and I can honestly say I've never made a better purchase. This guitar has great quality, great sound, great feel, and great just about anything else. This guitar has a built in Tuner, and sounds great out of an amp. If you're debating whether or not to buy this, and you have the money, do it.
