This amp is NOT a boutique $1000-plus tube amp that many of us cannot afford. It IS however a very nice little tube amp that has very usable effects for the price. It is a hybrid amp of sorts in that while it is a true tube amp with a pre-amp tube and power tube, the magic comes from all of the amp models that come loaded in it. You can also get others off the net if you are not somewhat techno-challenged like me - and who has the time for it? The bottom line is that these digital effects are quite realistic. If you want to sound like you're playing through a '59 Bassman, it's there... A Supersonic - got it... A Marshall JCM 800, well they don't all sound exactly like the original, but for this money you're close. I was always taught in manufacturing that a if product performs as well or better than the customer expectations, then it has high quality and value. This one exceeds my expectations and that's why it gets 5-stars from me. If you don't like the tone it brings out in your playing, try a good cabinet. I play mine through a 212 with Greenbacks (nice tone) and a 212 with Vintage 30's (even better).

It's a fun little amplifier head that looks cute and has some nice sounds. The modeling channel is pretty tweakable and when you dive into the FUSE software it opens things up a bit more for sure. Both channels do have that digital thing going on for sure. Fender. Why don't you just make this as a single channel all tube 15w with a small reverb tank? You would sell more than you could make. Effects are marginal and if you think you are going to use this in a band and get a loud enough signal from the clean channel and then switch to the drive channel and have it be balanced. Think again. You can get it somewhat close using the software, but you will still be adjusting your guitar volume. Fun to fart around with, but tricks are for kids. You are getting what you paid for with this amp.

Not a toy ~ The Real Deal

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 HD 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

There is a reason it says right on the amp ~"Vintage Modified Tube Amplifier"....Because that is what it is...The real Deal! I set up an X2, Twin Reverb RI, and a Deluxe Reverb RI, together at Guitar Center and played all three over and over...The Super Champ sounds just as good as both...if not better! Not as loud, but loud enough for events, and who doesn't mic their amp these days? The only thing I wish it had....is a blue jewel!

      Plenty Loud

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 HD 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Here's what I did..... I took the Superchamp X2 (Combo 10 inch speaker) into the sound room with the big boys ~Fender Deluxe Reverb and Fender Twin Reverb~ and listened to them side by side. I thought, "If this amp can sound just as good as those with a ten inch speaker, I wonder what the twelve would sound like?" So I ordered the Super Champ X2 head with the matching SC112 cabinet and feel very satisfied with the awesome sounds I can get. I feel the more I play it the harder it is to stop playing....This amp set up is alive....Wish I could figure out how to put a blue jewel light on it :) It has personality.......

Great sound in a small package

      By Tim Claus

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 HD 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I play with worship band at church, so having a versatile amp is essential, We do a broad range of music and I pair the Super Champ head with a Gretsch 12 string, Fender Jag, Fender Tele, and a hot-rodded Epi Les Paul. This amp handles everything well, giving exceptional cleans and articulation with the Gretsch, mild and warm gain with the Jag/P90 combination and some thick rhythm sounds with the Les Paul. In a relatively small venue, the 15W rating allows pushing the volume and gain to levels where you can dial in the sound in a way you can't with higher output amps. Plus, it takes my collection of TC Electronics, VFE, DigiTech, Visual Sounds and MXR pedals with excellent results. After using other Fender, Carvin, Kustom, Sunn, Line 6, Acoustic and other amps, this one hits every sound I need, with a single amp and setup.

      Terrific studio/recording amp

      By Donald Arney

      from Terre Haute, IN

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 HD 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I had one of the original Super Champ XD combo amp and really liked it except for the wimpy 10" speaker that came with it and the fact you couldn't change the timing on any of the effects presets. I traded it for Super Champ X2 HD head only and Fender addressed the timing issue with the addition of the Tap Tempo. I solved the speaker issue by using an Egnater Rebel 1X12 cabinet and a modfied Peavey cabinet with 2 Jensen C10Rs. I've only had this particular head for a couple of weeks, but from what I've seen, It's going to be a work horse. The clean tones from this amp are really very, very good and the modeled amps are very usable. Great for jazz, blues, rock.. extremely versatile. The effects aren't the best in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but they're not horrible either. I use a combination of pedals and Pro Tools plug-ins in the studio and can get pretty much whatever tone I need. For gigging, the head with a decent cabinet would be perfect for small lounges or a DI feed to the P.A. The only drawback is that switching from one amp model to another is completely manual (the footswitch only selects clean/modeled and efx on/off). The Fuse software is really impressive, although I've not had time to really get into it very deeply yet. From what I've played around with, it great enhances the flexibility of the amp and is reasonably easy to use. As a studio/recording amp, it is ideal and I highly recommend it.
