This is a fantastic playing guitar. It has a good feel and can really hold tune well. The tech-tonic bridge is great for perfect intonation. The stock Black Dove pickups have got to go though. Get a good set of Lollar's or Duncans and this will become one of your favorite guitars to play. I have 5 guitars right now, and this is my absolute favorite to play. So, if you can afford to change out the pickups and spend some quality time adjusting the bridge and action you will be very happy with this guitar.

I bought one of these in August of 2004 ...at the same time , I bought an Epiphone Elite Les Paul. At the time, the Stratosonic was $50 more than the Epiphone. Side by side, the LP seemed like 3 times the value for the $$$$,,beautiful binding, nice sound, balanced weight. beautiful playing neck. My friends figured the LP was at least twice as much as the Fender..it was not. The Stratosonic had a nice screaming lead tone when the neck pickup was used, but what did it in for me was that through my Jimi-wah pedal, it had NOTHING... it tucked its tailpiece and ran...very lame...also, the high E string was too close to the edge of the fretboard and fell off a lot..now don't jump to conclusions, I love strats..I own several.. this is one design Fender should discontue..very one dimensional...a very weak concept all the way around imo...lucky for me the place I bought it gave me a full credit, which I applied to a Gibson LP standard..a Gold Top!!! Like Fenders? get a strat.. want really fat tone? get a Les Paul..the song remains the same folks...

going back in time

The workmanship on this guitar is impeccable, true Fender American Deluxe quality all the way. My favorite thing about it is that I can get that old Les Paul tone without touching a gibson and getting my hands dirty!

Great little strat

By musicman-JHtAC

This guitar is probably one of the best I ever owned. The action is incredible and the quality is exactly what you would expect from Fender - A++. There is only one problem with this guitar, the pickups are less than desirable. If played with any amount of gain it sounds like you're playing through mud. Replace the black doves with a set of Jason Lollar p-90's or Seymour Duncan's and you are looking at one of the most versatile and best sounding guitars you will ever own.

Classic Rock Guitar

By Henry-utwn5

from Dundas, ON

AMAZING PURCHASE! The action is incredible, very smooth play. Worth much more than what I payed for it. This guitar has a GREAT sound, but there is one major problem I encountered with my guitar. In the middle position, the Black Dove pick-ups are great, but if you go to the bridge or neck position, there is SO much buzz or feedback that you can't possibly play with it at that setting. There is a tone knob that gives you some flexibility of sound, but I can't really take it away from the middle pickup position. I haven't ever talked to anyone about fixing it, and I wouldn't know what to do, but it's not TOO big of a deal because the sound is great at the middle position anyways. Sounds too muddy for playing metal in the middle position, in my opinion, so I don't use it for metal unless I'm stuck. If it wasn't for this, I would call it the perfect versatile guitar.

Great Fender

By Zap

from Woodbridge, NJ

The neck of a particular guitar feels different to each player. I happen to feel comfortable with Fender Product. I have a 1966 Jazz Master, 1967 Coronado, 1981 -83 Strat and Tele Gold Elites, and a couple of American H2 short scale Bullets. The Stratosonic is right in the mix with great action and I like it alot. I use a Line 6 to dial in a great variety of sounds. Most of my guitars are kept in my studio but I keep the Stratosonic up in my Office so I can pull it out for some stress relief type playing when I feel like it. It has great snap to it and I can enjoy it unamplified when I'm just fiddling around.

Great p-90 sound, better neck and quality than a Gibson SG with p-90's.

Great feeling and sounding axe!!!!!!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I am a Gibson guy at heart and I have Les Pauls, SG's, V's, RD's, etc. I went for a little change and this was an unbelievable buy for the money. This thing gets Fender and Gibson tones out of it, very cool. If your interested in this get the two pickup one you won't be disappointed!!!

Great guitar! Its sound surprised me, I was looking for a Gibson with p90's and luckily I found the strat-o-sonic. Play it through a good tube amp like a Fender Hot Rod 410 and you won't be disappointed.
