AMAZING

By J5rules

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Get this guitar, i am a HUGE fan of fender, especially their telecaster, with its maple neck and the body being alder, it makes a decently light guitar, with a very very fast neck. the pickups a standard comes with are very hot so if you have a budget dont worry about upgrading pickups. These guitars stay in tune very well and can be used for most any type of music

Buy the one that you test drive!

By BVK

from Oswego, IL

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Don't let the 4 stars fool you - I absolutely LOVE this guitar. The rating is because of the big problem I've noticed with the Fender MIMs... QUALITY CONTROL. You definitely want buy this thing off a guitar shop's wall rather than blind mail order! With that out of the way, I LOVE the sound of this guitar... it makes me want to play bluesy licks, which is atypical for me, so this is a wonderful and welcome addition to my arsenal. A word of caution - the standard pups WILL hum; if this is going to be your main axe, you might want to replace them... but this is an auxilliary instrument for me, and I LOVE how the pups sound, so I can live with the hum. Add a little tube screamer with your treble & bass at 12 o'clock and your mids at about 2 o'clock, and I guarantee you'll never put this guitar back in its case.

This is "THE" guitar

By am389

from New Jersey

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar a few days ago. So for awhile now, I've been looking for the perfect electric guitar. Something that would give me the most beautiful sound I've been searchin for year on end. I've always liked Fender the most...my dad has a Stratocaster and I always played it. The Jaguar always called to me as well. It wasnt till I played this Telecaster...then I found exactly what I was looking for. This guitar has it all. An amazing neck, killer look...but most of all...the sound I've been searching for, for so many years. I think this is "THE" guitar, and any guitarist, who plays any genre, would be more then satisfied with this beautiful work of art. The craftsmanship is AMAZING. This guitar literally has everything you could possibally want...Im in love.

So happy I finally got one!

By Ben

from Marietta, Georgia

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

So I'm no guitar expert but I've been gigging and playing for over a year now and this thing is awesome! The arctic white is surprisingly really good looking. I got a tortoise pick guard to replace the original with but idk if I actually will. The help was great and though my current rig doesn't do this baby justice I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!

Versatile Beast

By Mike

from Bronx, New York

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Wow here do I start with this guitar? I bought it a couple of days ago and I have not put it down since. As its my first maple fingerboard guitar, I find the beauty of it just absolutely stunning (I have the brown sunburst). This guitar is great and works with any type of music, but very rarely with metal. It's a great guitar to add to your collection but I would suggest changing the stock pickups because they hum very loudly! Well that is unless you like them like that. Great guitar BUY IT!

Not good for metal?

By Christian

from Royal Palm Beach, FL

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

i have been wanting a Tele for a while but really didnt know much about them. I wanted one so that i could get more of a bluesy twang, being that all my other guitars are gibsons with humbuckers. My fear was that the single coils wouldnt chunk with high gain (as mentioned in other reviews). Well this one is perfect, i defenitely got the twang i wanted, but found that this thing is a beast on high gain. I play through a Line 6 Spider valve stack, and this thing chunks and squeals just fine. Its def different from the sound of a humbucker, but its a nice change. The other great thing about this guitar is the neck, def different from the 08's, much more comfortable, really fast. Def give this guitar a try.

beastly guitar

By lessthansteve182

from Gillette NJ

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

got this guitar for christmas '08 and it looks and sounds great! It has an amazing clean tone for ska upsrokes set in the middle position plus a great classic, high treble telecaster sound with just the bridge pickup, distortion is pretty good, high gain doesn't really work out with this guitar though, its not really built for metal. i feel a little bit out of place with all the blues and classic rock players that typically buy these guitars, considering i'm more of a pop punk, ska punk player, but trust me it works well in both areas plus its nice to be a bit different, i mean i already have a strat and everyone has a les paul so i wasn't after one. the finish looks great but i manged to chip it in 2 places already, which isn't a huge surprise considering i jump around a lot while playing and usually hit stuff. another great thing about this guitar is the controls, very simple, one tone (which i don't even use) one volume and three pickup positions, plus the controls are well out of the way unlike on my strat where i'm always hiting the pickup selector. overall a great guitar at a great price for any style other than metal.

Truly unbelievable

By William

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I originally wound up with my white, Mexican Tele from a swap I made in a music store in 2001. The guitar had sustained some minor chips and was deemed un-sellable. I digress. I mean it when I say that aside from the occasional one-off gig, I have played my whitey in almost every state in the union in the past few years. I have beat it to a pulp. I have bled all over it. I have thrown it at my brother, the drummer, at the end of a show. I have treated it far more poorly than many men treat their wives. It has done nothing but work properly and to the best of its ability. It's finally starting to show that genuine tour ware that Fender now sells right off the shelves. I'm sure every individual hasn't had the same experience with their Teles, but mine has stood up to the most sustained 8-year beating of its life. I should call it Tina. I love my Tele with all of my heart, and can't believe I haven't had to replace so much as a nut. (Through a Hot Rod Deluxe...Boss Tuner-->Jekyll and Hyde overdrive--> Tube Screamer-->Digitech Whammy Pedal--> Boss DD-3)

beautiful guitar

By hayden marlatt

from corning, new york

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

dont let the four stars fool you, i LOVE my guitar. i have the arctic white and it looks and plays beautifully. dont believe what you have heard about made in mexico fenders, they are pretty good, you may have to do some tweaking with them but its not hard. when i got mine it was set up pretty well so i didnt have to do anything really but change the pickup height, which is just tightening a screw. the reason for the 4 stars is the pickups arent the best. they do not have the sustain or the output that other pups have. i do a lot of bends and they just cant hold it, so i am going to replace the bridge pup to a seymour duncan hot rail for tele. if i had to do it over again, i would buy it again and again.

Great buy, even if price was 2X.

By Tommy B

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have always been a Gibson fan. I have played my Les Paul ( am uch more expensive Guitar) sine 1993. I never even considered buying another guitar....until I played my Wine colored Telecaster. That being said, I have been playing the Telecaster non stop. It plays like butter, fit and finish are incredible!!!

AWESOME GUITAR WITH GREAT TONE!

By Evan Huff

from fresno,CA.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar for people who enjoy sound rather than covering it up with distortion. If you play metal you should test it before you buy it because it gets a screeching sound when you put a high distortion rate on it with the tone knob turn all the way up.Also iv'e found a really distinctive sound when you turn the tone knob all the way down and add distortion it sounds great! (no screeching sounds)But my favorite part of this Tele is the slick look.I think its the best guitar you could get for this price range! .

Telecaster Rating

By Tom Sellars

from San Antonio Tx

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Rec'd my 2010 Telecaster Made in Mexico (Candy Apple Red, maple neck) and am totally surprised and pleased with the guitar. Looked hard @ the Tele in '04, found a few things I didn't like but this 2010 is an outstsnding instrument for quality, appearance, tone & playability. Hard to beat for the money & is very difficult (if poss) to look at & play this sucker & tell where its made. MIM label is now on the back of the headstock so you can't ID origin like you once could. Have owned '64 Tele, 60's mod Strat & Jag and this axe sounds as "FENDER" as any I've ever heard. If you like the Unique Fender Sound, then buy yourself a Fender Amp. My amp using built-in effects is a great sound, but make it even more versitle using a Digitech RP-50 Modeling Guitar Processor to create just about any sound & amp model desired. Preset level is KEY - set @ 25-30 to record; 50-60 live on bandstand. Only negatives: As with all brands of interest, checked the intonation with my own tuner and none are @ exactly A-440 in my opinion. Reset to A-440 OPEN, chimed @ fretted (gently) at the 12th & 19th fret & adjusted to A-440 @ all locations. If you don't know how to do this procedure, don't try it! Just don't ask me how I know! The other negative (common w/many guitars) frets were not dressed to suit me, so I bought a $12 fret file and am totally pleased with this "but-kickin" rig!! Happy pickin'!!!!!!

WOW

By Jim

from Omaha NE

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have always been a Gibson guy and have absolutely loved every minute playing my 78 Les Paul Custom I bought new. I have always wanted a Fender with a maple neck. I bought this last month and have mostly used it with a Fender Frontman 15 watt practice amp. I am very impressed with the workmanship and quality. Two weeks ago I got to play with my band using my friends 50 Marshall double stack and that is when I truly appreciated this guitar. Everyone was like WOW that sounds great. WOW is right. Thanks Guitar Center for selling me a great axe I will use for years to come.

Very, Very Good

By Justin

from Lansing, MI

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I own a Standard Telecaster (The new one) in the Lake Placid Blue with the Maple fretboard (Beautiful looking guitar!) This is my all-time favorite guitar, I hardly play my Gibson Les Paul anymore. When looking at this guitar, the first thing that comes to mind is "versatility". It can play anything! I can use this guitar for any style of music I play, and others that I don't. This guitar can even handle a little bit of metal with the right amp and maybe a booster behind it. The only bad thing I can say about the guitar is that the pickups have a little hum to them, but only when you kick up the gain a lot. On normal levels this isn't an issue, but if you want to, you can upgrade the pickups (I suggests the Fender Vintage Noiseless Pickups) and it'll do away with that issue. I only put 5 stars because they don't have an option for 20.

Sweet tone

By Muzzlin

from New York, NY

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I first tried this axe a few days ago and know i'm convinced that every guitar player has got to have one. It isn't great with metal, but is good with everything else. I would advise not using it for hard rock too but if your not too crazy with the gain knob then your good. The white version is beautiful and its got a tone to go with it.

great blues, but lack of distortion

By James H,

from Detroit, MI

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

this is a great guitar for a "clean" sound. If i'm playing lighter music the pick ups are great. (john mayer/dashboard confessional) However, i also like to play some newer heavier alternative stuff like (taking back sunday, saosin, silverstein) and this guitar LACKS distortion to get a heavy sound like a les paul, sg, or ibanez does. overall this is a great guitar to add to a collection. But before buying definitely think about what sound you want if you don't have $$$ to burn.

Wow

By John

from Hartland, WI

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:

All I can say is wow. This baby can play. The neck is like butter and slides so easily. I got this a month and a half ago and just love it. Its my first electric but it plays and sounds better than all of my friends guitars. I got the midnight wine with a maple fretboard and would highly recommend it. The only downsides are is that it is very heavy and it comes with a gig bag not a hardshell case.
