Where do I start!?! First off, Mim strats are awesome for the fact that they are more like the original style strat (21 frets) over the american strat (22 frets). Mine sounds INCREDIBLE with my Fender amp. I can use the tremolo bar like crazy and that baby stays in tune no matter what! I get the most amazing clean sounds out of it and really nice distortion sounds, I am extremely satisfied with my buy! If you are looking for a beginner guitar or a upgrade definitely go with this, you wont be disappointed!

I've had this Strat for a year and a week. Great packaging. First sight: my frets had about 1/8" of dust on both sides of the frets, so no telling how long the neck sat flat "somewhere" in the factory. I found a human(?) hair in the springs. Nasty. Two big turn-offs. Anyway, one strum= very happy; played for about 20 minutes before tuning up. I should say attempting to tune up. I actually broke a string trying to tune up. After about 20 minutes of trying to tune this thing up, I decided to put on my Slinkys. Boom. Problem solved. Set ups are like opinions, so... Now, each of the tuners on this thing vary in feel, from brand new to old and loose. Not good at all. Within a half an hour of holding it in my hands I was questioning my purchase for that reason alone. A year later and the turners still (blank). The neck is nice. Silky, smooth. The one piece neck/headstock is (looks!) great for me, no problems except that the nut has such sharp edges that it hurts to slide up the neck from the headstock, so much so that I can no longer perform that move. Frets are nice and clean. I could do w/o the inlay on the back of the neck: I foresee future problems there, one drop and that thing will pop out. How do I know? 'Cause it did. I drop all my guitars (not on purpose!) and this one is alive and kicking: this thing is TOUGH (great build quality). Easy access to upper frets. The neck does feel and play great though, I am not impressed with the lack of sustain. The workmanship is very acceptable: fit and finish. The HSS configuration is why I bought this thing. Here you can get just about Every sound you need. I play 60's thru 80's "everything" and this one's got you covered. Can't dial in those classic rock tones? You need single coils! A great feature I really like: on the humbucker only setting, the tone switch is dead (in a good way). The single coils sound okay and I actually had to dial my gain down a little on all my settings when using the humbucker. Really, the pickups are flat and kinda lifeless, but are, overall, a go for the price. The bridge is only good for light bar work, but it'll get you through a few bombastic passages okay. I have lost some flesh on the height adj. screws on the bridge so...? This thing stays in tune very well. I rarely use the tone controls and use the volume knob even less; rather, I ride the volume pedal pretty hard and use the dynamic control of the same. This would make A Great First Guitar: easy to play, versatile, affordable, stout and just a dang good-looking axe. If this isn't your first guitar, but is your first Fender, save up and BUY AMERICAN.

Versatile and Thin

By Arruniel

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

Thin neck, wide frets. Easy to play with small hands. Versatile, good for lead, rhythm, and, even, switching. Can stretch to any genre: blues, metal, and folk. It's the every day guitar for the musician that plays every day and everything. It's light, thin, and easy to handle and manhandle.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This is one amazing guitar. I received one as a gift and i couldn't of been happier. This guitar can do it all. All those bluesy clapton sounds to that classic Hendrix madness. I highly recommend this guitar. I love having the best of both worlds with the new humbucker. Thank you Fender!!

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

Great guitar and also great versatility. I've been playing guitar for two years now and this guitar is one of the best I've ever played at an affordable price. You are foolish not to buy this guitar there is only one downside the fact that you will not be able to put it down. Great guitar overall.

Great Versatile Guitar !

By Alberto

from Las Vegas, Nevada

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I've always loved the sound a distorted humbucker but also loved clear single coils for blues. This guitar gives you both options. Its humbucker gives a nice, warm tone. Its neck coil gives a beautiful glassy sound that is perfect for blues, and its middle pickup gives a mix between them. It is durable and the strings rarely go out of tune with the tremolo. The only thing you might need to adjust is the string action. It may come a bit low and rattle on the low E string. Simply a perfect guitar.

Well Rounded Guitar

By Flanking Frank

from dfw, texas

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

The Fender HSS strat is amazing. You can play anything from SRV to Anthrax on this baby. I'm looking in to getting a LP, but this will always be my main. The only downside is that the tremolo can knock it out of tune, but I don't use it much anyways. It's a sweet guitar, great for punk,classic,alt,metal,blues...well everything to be honest. the most well rounded guitar ever made. (get some earnie ball strings though, they are the BEST)

The best guitar out there for the money!

By Begginner StratMan

from Virginia, Annandale

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I was originally looking at a low-end Ibanez rg series guitar, but then I tried out this Fender. All I can say is... wow! It blew the Ibanez away at everything. It stays in tune forever, you can get some really amazing tones out of it, and it has a really fast neck with a good action right out of the box. I got a black one with a maple fingerboard, and i couldn't be happier with it.

This Guitar Is HOT !!!!

By Brent

from Mobile, AL

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This guitar feels Awsome! I was torn between the American and this upgraded MIM. After playing both, I couldn't tell much difference. The neck feels great and very fast (maple). I did have it setup and put on new strings, now this baby sings!! I do suggest getting locking tuners. It sounds great... even on distorted channel. Try one out for yourself.

Awsome Beginner Guitar!

By Fender Bender

from Florida

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

Fits like a glove while sitting or standing. Very lightweight, indestructible, and easy to play. You can play basically everything on this thing. It's cheap, has various tones/controls, and stays in tune like forever. You can make it soft and sweet but you can also make it scream and attack. I learned to play on this guitar and it rocks and i totally recommend this to a beginner/intermediate guitarist!

GO MIM STRAT

By SCT

from Indiana

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

Ive owned this guitar now for about 6 months. I can honestly say that it hasn't let me down. It actually took me awhile to get used to the small neck being i played gibsons for so long. The MIM Strat has tones in the clean section that people dream of, and with overdrive you can get some nice rock out of it. The tuners will need to be broken in and so will the tremolo system before they will be perfect. All in All this guitar is something i will have for the next 20+ years.

Great Guitar

By AJ

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This is a versatile guitar. You can play any genre of music on the Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar. I had one before and I was planning to buy an Ibanez electric. But factoring price and versatility along with the sound quality, I bought a new Strat. The Midnight Wine color is nice!!

Greatest Invention from Fender

By Vince

from Pembroke Pines, FL

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

This guitar is an amazing work of art. I had this guitar ever since May 2009 and the guitar has never let me down! From quiet and subtle solo to heavily distorted rock, you name it and this guitar will make the sound for you! As a person who plays christian music, there are times when I have to play a quiet solo and other times a heavily distorted solo to the upbeat. So far, there was not a single time when I couldn't play the music due to the inability of the guitar. I highly recommend this to anyone from beginners to experts!

excellent guitar all around

By Wanderer-X of Outer Heaven

from brooklyn, ny

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

first off, this solid body beats the hell out of the ibanez brand with the sheer point of its neck durability, the alder body carries on a mellowed pitch, compared to its competitions basswood counterpart, the neck is fast action, and its variety in tone is amazing, i have been able to easily shift from nirvana, to alice in chains, or to down, ever since i have picked this up recently in january 24th of 09, i havent been able to put it down ever since.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar a week ago. This guitar really rocks. With a little fine tuning of my own and changeing out from the factory strings it plays just as good as the ones costing much more money. I'd recommend one of these to anyone.

perfection

By clebga

from NY,NY

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

let me be blunt. after my fender had been sitting on shelf for four months without new strings than played to the point that my middle finger started to bleed in addition to dropping down a flight of stars and denting the body. it was still perfectly in tune. this is no exaggeration. my mexican hss is my heart and soul in the form of a maple neck and an arctic white body. after purchasing the epiphone sheraton 2 and a gibson les-paul i can whole-heartedly say that none of them hold a candle to my strat. no instrument i've ever played has more personality or soul than the strat. right out of the box this guitar will stun you. i remember holding mine and falling in love, a feeling that was reciprocated. this guitar will never fail you and never let you down.

Amazing for the price point

By Dante

from San Jose, CA

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I walked into Guitar Center with the intention of buying a more expensive strat, but they didn't have the color i wanted. So, I picked this thing up and plugged it into the Fender Hot Rod Deville. Wow. Sounded great, and played great. I walked out of the store spending less than half the money i was planning on spending that day. I've played on a Les Paul Custom for many years, among other quality guitars. I've had this strat now for about 3 months and play it for at least an hour a day, gigged with it a few times. It goes out of tune a little, but mostly when i beat up on it with the whammy. The pickups are good (again for the price). It sounds awesome, plays beautifully, and I can't pass it by without picking it up. Very nice guitar. This is the least i've ever spent on a guitar in my life, and yet, it's one of my favorite guitars i've owned.

Great Guitar

By Mike

from Poway, CA

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I had not played for many years and then got the bug again. Back in the day, some 30 plus years ago, I had a Strat and just loved it. When I decided to learn all over again how to play, a friend of mine loaned me a 58 VOS Gibson LP and I can tell you that, surprisingly, this guitar is much easier to finger and has a great sound to boot. Well worth the money.
