This is a great guitar for the beginner or intermediate player who wants to just grab a guitar and jam. It has the depth of an electric with a crisp and clean acoustic sound. Quickly throw it into the key of choice with the built-in tuner and plug it into an amp for an electric sound. For the price, there is nothing better. I play it every day and highly recommend it!

this was my very first guitar ever. i thought it was the best acoustic ever when i bought it. it turned out to be a good solid guitar, but it sounds a lot different than the regular-shaped acoustics. so im saying if you want a different sounding or good begginer guitar, you would like this. but if your looking for something more on the classic acoustic side, don't get this.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for awhile now. My version doesn't have the built in tuner but it still sounds amazing. Its not too loud and it sounds great plugged into my amp. the fiberglass body makes it very durable and light. my only complaint is that its kind of off balance because the head is heavier but overall its a must have. this guitar will surely remain as my go to guitar. its versatile and comfortable to play. i constantly move from my ibanez to it and the c shape neck makes its easy. overall 10/10 would buy again

      I love anything Fender, but....

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Its an electric guitar that can double as acoustic, but really only in a pinch. On electric, you are playing with the big boys and the built in Fishman preamp (at least on my model) really delivers. If you play in a band, you can fire your bass player (!) if you crank the bass dial on the Fishman. Fun to play. Acoustic---I'd give it only a C (plus the fact that you can't play silently, such as on headphone amp). It sounds, acoustic, like a toy, something out of a box at ToysRUs. No power. No real voice. On mine the action was way too high (though I realize that the acoustic aspect makes the action higher than on my Stratocaster). The fiberglass body is a blessing and a curse---blessing in that its durable (and lightweight...half the weight of my American Custom Strat), curse---just sounds bland, even muffled. Even laminated pressboard would sound better. (I dunno...maybe I should swap out the strings). Be careful what you wish for. I wished for an acoustic with the thin neck I was used to on my Strat (hard for me to do barre chords on a dreadnaught acoustic), and I got it. The price to pay was very mediocre performance as an acoustic. Its dynamite on the Amp, however....but if you want to play electric, you really should consider a Strat or a Telecaster. Still I can never bad mouth a Fender so she gets four stars. Plus my Guitar Center price (slightly used) was attractive. I paid $189 and while its not quite what I had in mind, I wasn't cheated, either.

      Above expectations!

      By DONALD

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought this used for an electric guitar playing friend who can't seem to bond with an acoustic guitar. When it arrived i took it home to run it through it's paces and make sure everything worked properly. To my surprise it sounds fairly descent for a shallow body ovation/applause style instrument- AND way easier on the pocketbook. I plug into my all tube 12w. amp and (holy-smokes)this little guy steps up and rips some great acoustic tone. I don't say this offhand- i've been playing live for 40yrs and i myself roll acoustic L5 gibsons through 12w. tube amps- you really can't get more tone than that. SO, in conclusion, everybody that whines about the sound not being full acousticly, please, this is NOT a full bodied handmade martin, gibson, or the like, it is a hybid acoustic/electric and meant to be played through an amp- and this is where the instrument shines- while YOU are struggling with feedback and notch filters and all the other accompaning outboard gear to make your 3,000 dollar handmade flattop stop behaving badly on stage, the guy next to you playing his fender stratacoustic is tearing it up and sounding great doing it with none of the accompaning acoustic nightmares most of us acoustic players struggle with. BUY one and rock out bro, you will be surprised!

I own one,the action is excellent, electonics are great! Its fast,if played unplugged it is not very loud. When plugged it sounds good in the right Amp.But it depends what kind of strings you have on it.If you want it to sound more Acoustic use Electric-Acoustic strings.More Electric use strings for Solid Electric guitar. On the stage you dont get feedback! So it depends what your using it for!

Get one while they are still available...

      By William Brice

      from Phila, PA

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Remember, this is a made in China product...but it is really slick. Strat neck and body style: a great practice guitar at a really low price that one does not have to worry about. Plays OK acoustically; not very loud, but that is expected by the chamber volume. Action came very high...that is fixable by sanding the bridge nut on a flat surface; if you screw up, an extra bridge comes with the Stratacoustic. I learned how to fix the bridge on youtube...it worked perfectly. Sounds great through an amp; just be aware that acoustic resonance and feedback can be a problem...works great with Flanger, Phaser, Chorus pedals; not so great with reverb or delay through a conventional "hot" tube amp. Get one today..Fender Rocks, as usual.

Good Beginner Guitar - Bad Action

      By ndelregno

      from Rowlett, TX

      Pros

      • Built in tuner

      Cons

      • Action
      • Fret Finish

      Best Uses

      • Beginner guitar
      • Throwaway Guitar

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As others have noted, this guitar would be a lot better if Fender gave a bit more attention to detail relative to the play-ability.

The action is high as others have noted. The strings that ship with the guitar are trash. Replace them immediately.

The frets are also rough. Whereas most frets on most guitars (even cheap ones) are nicely rounded, these have relatively sharp edges. No cut fingers, mind you, but there is a definite squarish edge to the frets.

I purchased this for my 11-year old daughter for Christmas and it works. I purchased an Ovation shallow body (about hundred more) for my son, and it is far better.

As my personal guitars are all high end, I could be spoiled, but the action and frets on this guitar are the main problem. Otherwise it is an awesome beginner guitar. But, I wished I had spent a little more and purchased the ovation for my daughter.

      Bad action

      By starzbluez

      from FL

      Verified Buyer

Comments about Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

If it was not a "Fender", I would have returned this guitar in a heart beat. That being said, let me explain. The action at the 14th fret was a whopping 1/4"!!! No poop! But, it's a Fender...so.

I started by removing the neck, and when I had it off, I saw there was already a shim at the heal of the neck. I replaced that peace of sandpaper/shim with a piece of a credit card, (slightly thicker), which brought the neck level with the top of the guitar. Then I straightened the neck, bringing the action down to about 3.5mm. At this point I then pulled to bridge and after CAREFULLY sanding it. (the bridge sits directly on the pickup, so be careful) I managed to get the action at the 14th fret down to 2.5mm.

Action is still a bit on the high side, but the guitar is much more playable now. I'll sand the bridge a bit more on the next string change.

I was concerned about the fiberglass body, but as it turns out, it makes for a more enjoyable playing guitar, when I'm just kicking back in a chair, for example. I quickly realized that I don't need to worry about scratching the body!

It's also a very light instrument, surprisingly light in fact. As much as I like playing my Pro Jet, this little Fender gets played more, because it sits by my desk, so I can pick it up anytime.

I know new guitars are sent out with the action on the high side, but Fender really dropped the ball on this one!

After all is said and done though, I really like my Fender Stratacoustic, sounds great through my VOX amp as well.

The price a too high though, considering how much work you have to put into the guitar just to be able to play it. Wait for a sale.

well iv had my stratacoustic for about three months now it was my first guitar i really like it but the strings are way to high its hard to press and learn to play chords it takes a lot more effort to press the strings down on this guitar than any other guitar i have played but the sound is really beautiful that this guitar produces i give it a 4 out of 5
